The staff receives a patient who is a musical savant, while House has a secret to keep while dealing with another hospital.
The musical savant is played by Dave Matthews!
Yay! It’s back! I don’t like Dave Matthews’s music anymore, and I can’t help but think of the Chicago debacle when I see him, so I hope he does some good acting and helps me forget all that.
Please, don’t continue with all the soap opera! ::crosses fingers
Bump for Wooster
Allow me to be the first to complain that we’re waiting another three fucking weeks for another episode.
The only show I watch on this idiot box, and I get it once a month.
Boomtown Rats!!!
In any case, quite a good episode.
Heh. He was faking cancer to try to score dope. Every time they think they’ve found a vulnerable center to House, it turns out to be yet an other level of cynicism.
I thought that the pianist looked familiar! Very cool. And Hugh Laurie and Dave Matthews both play piano beautifully.
What’s up with Cameron’s hair? In the first part, her hair was pulled back like it was last year. Later she had bangs again.
Because in the first part she had just showered. Because she and Chase diiiiiiiiiiiiid itttttttt high-pitched annoying giggles
House not only let everybody who still cares about him think he was dying of cancer – he copped a feel off Cuddy! (Have to admit, I might not have struggled more than half a second with that particular ethical dilemma.)
“Call the Make-A-Wish Foundation” hee!
StG
I thought Wilson was right. House didn’t actually say flat out, “yes, I was doing it to try and get high.” I think it was possible depression relief and possible pain management. And House definitely is the kind of person who’d rather have the Ducklings*, Wilson and Cuddy think he was trying to get high instead of admitting that he either suffers from depression or that his pain is bothering him to that extent.
- damn those Television Without Pity boards. I seriously can’t come up with a better phrase to describe Cameron, Chase and Foreman. It’s so perfect!
Over at Polite Dissent, they’re the Young Guns.
House is the master manipulator, that is for sure… I, for one, think he is looking for a way to work the pain, and it has nothing to do with depression or the “high”… this was evidenced by the prior episode (what, 3, 4 weeks ago?) where he was trying to get the nerve from the no pain girl…
Earlier episodes of House had him reaching for cures for the patients that took a true leap, its not beyond reason for him to see a connection between this protocol and a “better way” for him other than vicodin.
What bugs me is that they all assume that it was about the “high”, they don’t give him the benefit of any doubt when it comes to his actuall need for pain relief.
Very few, if any, shots of him taking vicodin this ep.
I relaly think house doesn’t want to take pills. It just seems to me he’s the kind of person who would rather not be dependent on anybody or anything, hince his various attempts at pain medication that border on the extreme.
Also, I would have so coped a feel too. Cuddy’s ass is just too sweet to turn down.
Not to mention he got a kiss (albeit with an ulterior motive) from Cameron. But there wasn’t nearly enough Wilson/House slashy goodness!
I thought it was great that House was just using someone else’s false cancer to get new pain meds. And serves the Ducklings right for neglecting Dave Matthews in favor of House. That really bothered me.
I don’t think that House knew it wasn’t cancer in the other patient… he seemed somewhat surprised.
A second clue that the ducklings (I like that) should’ve picked up on…
That was a heck of alot of testing (xrays, scans, etc…) on House that was done “locally” that no one knew about… I don’t care who you are, you’re not x-raying your own head without some assistance.
And he told them numerous times that he wasn’t dying… denial might be a river, but sheesh.
Oh, I figured that House didn’t know the case wasn’t actual cancer, I just didn’t want to say the guy had cancer, 'cause it was discovered that he didn’t.
:reads above sentence:
Does that make sense at all?
House got some Cuddy-butt!
I wonder if Wilson would have hugged him if he hadn’t found out what House had been up to.
Hugh Laurie is pretty good for being pretty much self-taught on the piano.
Thought Dave Matthews and Kurtwood Smith both did a fine job.
I like “the Cottages.”
