House 3/6

But… but… but… They end the ep with his hand on the doorknob of the pub. Did he actually go in and speak to them? Hang out with them? Did they kick him to the curb for the crap he put them through? (although, technically, they put themselves through, as he didn’t want them researching ‘his’ problem)

And I, too, was livid that they’re going to make us wait another 3 weeks for a new ep. They had teasers saying that there were “NINE NEW EPISODES!” then, like it was in fine print, “but you have to wait 3 weeks for them”. What’s pre-empting them this time? Last couple of weeks it was American Idol (as if the audiences are the same!)

I think it’s still American Idol. They’re about to go to two nights a week (instead of 3), but with 12 performers again.

(What Chicago debacle?)

A few years ago, his tour bus was crossing a bridge and dumped a large amount of human waste that landed on a sightseeing boat below. Ewwww.

A couple of years ago, the Dave Matthews’ tour bus was sitting on a bridge over the Chicago River, and the driver dumped a shitload (sorry) of raw sewage into the river. Unfortunately, at the moment a tour boat was passing underneath, and the passengers were, shall we say, not happy. The band wasn’t on the bus at the time, and they don’t seem to have had anything to do with it. There were fines, and the driver was fired, I think. No real reason to hold it against Dave himself. It was a big story here for a few days.

Oh! I remember that now! I forgot who the players were! (I’m from here, too!)

Dave Matthews! :smack: I about gave myself a hematoma trying to figure out where’d I’d seen that guy. Duuuuuuuuuh. I liked what I saw of last night’s episode in general, but I LOVED them playing the intro to “I Don’t Like Mondays”. I heard those first three unmistakable chords (notes? bars? whatever the proper term is ) and I got a little giddy. House even did the hand claps!

The father of the POTW, Kurtwood Smith, plays Red on That '70s Show. I kept expecting him to say, “House! You’re not taking out half of my son’s brain, you dumbass!”

Heh heh - me too. He had a son that really was a dumbass and never called him on it. (I’m sorry - brain damage is nothing to joke about, but it was Red - and it is just a TV show.)

I was very impressed with Dave Matthews as an actor. Has he done any acting before?

If House was using the medical records of another patient (who, he said, was cheating on his wife, and I don’t understand what that had to do with anything either) why did he have a sample of his own blood tested?

Heh. Kurtwood Smith’s character on “That 70’s Show” is the father of Eric Foreman. And his character here interacts with a doctor named Eric Foreman.

What are the odds??

Didn’t he say “check it for cholesterol” and whatnot? Maybe he was just doing a little blood work to monitor his health before going to Boston to get drugged up.

Good question- maybe because he (himself) would be going through the procedure, so he supplied his own blood for pre-op testing. If there was anything wrong with him that would show up in blood work, that contraindicated the operation, he would need to know.

WAG
Edit- or what he just said.

Right away, I said, “hey! That’s Dave Mathews!” – by the end, I forgot it was him! I thought he did a good job, although he did play a character whose facial expressions seem to match the only one that he has, but it was still good. “Red” did a nice job too.

Interesting to wonder about if House went in to the restaurant at the end. The writers seem intent on showing us he has vulnerabilities (emotional) but then they always pull the rug out from underneath us. Even if he went in, perhaps it was to mock them, or ask them what they all think of Cameron turning into the office whore.

Yeah. Like the ketamine treatment and the idea of using the no-pain patient’s nerves, this pleasure center implant was another idea House had to get rid of his leg pain - permanently. Given that potential benefit, he would think nothing of lying about having cancer.

That said, as soon as he told Cameron what his file was, I knew instantly that it wasn’t his file.

This episode was fantastic. The one criticism I keep hearing about the show is that the plot is formulaic - and yeah, sometimes it is. But this episode shows that they can still surprise us.

Is it me or is Cameron getting laaaaamer as the show goes on?

“You don’t have cancer, you have syphilis! BoyIamgladwedidn’tsleeptogether!”

That kiss scene was ooky.

She is driving me nuts!

Or, he wanted Foreman to see what he was doing and, thus, start the “investigation” that led them all to believe he was dying? I don’t buy it though. . .

Except for the fact that House’s leg pain is psychosomatic.

When Cuddy shot him up with water and told him it was morphine, the pain went away.

House knows this. He just doesn’t want to admit it to himself. All he’s doing is finding more and more esoteric triggers for a reflex that he could learn to control with therapy.

That was only true for the short period following the ketamine treatment. It worked for a short period to eliminate the real pain but it eventually came back in earnest. For most of the shows run House is in legitimate pain.

Oh, I don’t, it’s just one of those irrational connections. I thought he did fine.

He got favorable reviews for his role in Because of Winn-Dixie.

:smack: I knew I’d seen the dad before! Of course, That 70s Show.

Was I the only one who tested how bent I could make my fingers after that opening scene?
