House 5/11

No, they aren’t. I have it saved on DVR, and I’ve watched it several times. The steps and landing are empty in the middle shot.

I second that. For me they’re the two most obnoxious characters in the show.

It sounded like it was supposed to be wedding music . . . and perhaps the choice of song was an allusion to their RL wedding plans.

And it was not in tune.

You’re not the only one with a DVR! Starting at 42:59 and to the end of the episode you see the three figures on the steps. Prior to that time you do not see them. At 42:21 you get a closeup of House getting out of the car. At 42:25 House and Wilson are out of the car and there’s a view of the hospital entrance. This was probably where you think the three figures have gone missing. Yes, there’s no one on the steps, but they weren’t there before this time so they certainly did not “appear and disappear”. At 42:29 House hands over to Wilson his wallet, watch, etc., picks up his cane, and starts walking towards the hospital. No shots of the hospital steps. Only a view of House walking towards the camera. Then at 42:59 (a full 34 seconds after the last full view of the hospital steps) you get a long shot of House and the the three figures who could’ve easily emerged from the hospital while the hospital was off-camera. There were no discontinuities to mar this beautifully shot ending to the season. And it was all done without any dialog. All the acting was done through facial expressions from House, Wilson, and Cuddy. Just awesome.

Really! Thanks for that. Hey! Often in polite conversation it is considered a bit boorish to belabor the obvious. Just FYI.

Nope. That’s not it.

Right after that there is a quick cut, maybe two-three seconds. House is in right profile on the far left of the screen. The steps and landing are on the far right. There are three other figures; two on the steps and one on the landing.

Then a cut to the wedding.

Then a cut to a view from behind House as he approaches the steps. No figures.

Cut to the wedding.

Then a view from behind house as he ascends the steps, assisted by the three people; a man in a long white coat (doctor?), a woman in a pantsuit, and a man in a short sleeve white coat (orderly)?

I suppose it is possible that we viewed two different versions of the show, but I assure you that in the one I saw events transpired as stated. I have watched the ending eight or nine times now, pausing as necessary to make sure that I did not imagine it. I didn’t.
