House 5/16: After Hours

ditto :D.

Taub waiting for the stripper was, as noted, a damfool thing to do. He could have simply asked Foreman to hand a note to a bouncer or other staff member - even shown it to whomever he handed it to. A simple note saying “I’m a doctor; sorry for scaring you but that mole looked dangerous, PLEASE have it looked at by a dermatologist”. Then they go on their way, having done all that they reasonably can do, without creeping out the dancer or getting shot at.

Dating Cuddy was working, he started having problems again after she dumped him.

That’s what a reasonable person would do, yes. But the scene wasn’t about showing us a reasonable person. It was about showing us Taub’s demons.

And for the record, I found her dumping him to be incredibly weak. At least in terms of timing and reasons. Incredibly. Suddenly she has an epiphany about his emotional limitations and completely refuses to give any credit to his trying, drugs and all? Oh please, she knows this man. Crap crap.

I blame the writers.

While that was Cuddy’s explanation on the show - that she didn’t realize how hard it would be to change House - I’m disappointed that the writers decided to portray Cuddy this way. It’s inconsistent with her character as a hospital administrator and how well she runs her staff (besides House). I think she’s the toughest character on the show, and should have been able to handle House if she wanted to.

BTW, Lisa Edelstein isn’t returning next season. It’ll be interesting to see how the writers deal with this.

And now it looks like Lisa E. won’t be coming back, so there’s that…

ETA: simul-post!

They’ll probably kill her off and give House custody of the kid.

That probably won’t happen…but it sure is intriguing to consider.

Lisa Edelstein won’t be back?? Damn, I LOVE her. Maybe that explains why the House/Cuddy relationship was so short, not even a full season. Without Cuddy next season (supposedly the last), fewer episodes, a smaller budget, and with (I think) less Wilson, maybe they will let House out of the hospital setting. Or maybe devote a show to each character, wrapping up his or her storyline. Foreman getting a promotion, Taub living happily ever after with his babymama, poor Thirteen’s inevitable slow demise…maybe Chase will see her through till things look hopeless. But she will need House at The End. :frowning:

No, it wouldn’t explain that as the writers had no idea that Edelstein wouldn’t be around for the next season. Negotiations for her return only broke down a day ago and most assumed that she would settle, as Omar Epps and Robert Sean Leonard did.

:eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:

That is simply unacceptable.

If they had House retire to become a beekeeper it would instantly be the greatest ending in history.

Can’t really blame her. Fox was looking for budget cuts for what is expected to be the final season of House. (The ratings last season were disappointing.) Of the four players whose contracts were up for renewal only Laurie managed to hang on to his last season salary ($400,000 per episode). Edelstein ($175,000 per episode last time), Epp and Leonard were looking at salary cuts and reduced episodes. The latter two swallowed it but Lisa told Fox to stick it where the sun don’t shine.

Yeah, that was really lame. Cuddy has known House for over 20 years and she thought that she could change him, really?

I didn’t mind them breaking up because the whole sex, sex and more mention of sex from House was getting tiresome, for me anyway, but they could have found a more creative way to end it.

:D:D:D

Could there be less Wilson?

There will be even less Wilson than usual next season.

If Lisa E. has any good gigs lined up, she better get crackin’, before she gets too “old” for Hollywood.

And what about Jesse Spencer? HE better come back. I’m assuming he will, but I read he hasn’t officially signed up.

(Cuddy’s daughter, if Cuddy died, would go live with her sister, I can’t in a million years imagine House as ‘Daddy’. I think he would drop her off at the Paramus Mall and drive away if Cuddy died and left Rachel to him!)

I was joking about House and the kid. If anything, she’d leave the kid to Wilson. Who would be guaranteed to spend his whole life at her mercy.

I hope Lisa Edelstein has saved her money.

A couple of sources I’ve read said that Leonard did not take a salary cut. He will be returning at his current rate of $175,000 per episode.

Story here
So this is listed as a “shocker” and admittedly this is news to all of us, but I wonder if the House people knew this? I hope so since they have like, one episode left in the season…they need to write her off somehow right?
