House 5/3: The Choice

Male patient lactates; docs perform karaoke.

Oh boy!!!

No posts?

I seriously enjoyed this episode. First time in a while, but I haven’t seen last week’s episode yet. Looks like Wilson’s new relationship is moving rather fast!

I’m actually enjoying the focus on relationships as opposed to the POTW for a change. I don’t want it to continue forever; but it’s a nice change. I’m actually liking 13 and Foreman again because of it. Not much to say about the episode. The whole POTW of the week seemed dumber than usual, actually. :frowning:

Is it really fast when it’s round two for Wilson and Sam? Seems like you’d get to skip a few steps when you’ve already been married before.

The guys doing kareoke rocked, but House’s last line to Cuddy was intense.

Her: I just want us to be friends.
Him: That’s the last thing I want for us.

I liked this episode more than I have others this season. The kareoke was a hoot. I noticed when 13 was drinking her martini, House was giving her the all-seeing diagnostic eye because he noticed her hand was shaking a little. Beginning of the end for 13?

And what’s with House’s boozing? Next week he’s back talking with his therapist - maybe he’s becoming an alcoholic?

Whoa…I didn’t see the hand shake. Good catch!

Yeah, he is off the Vicodin but the ibuprofen doesn’t cut it, so the alcohol is dulling the pain these days. Evidently that’s why he woke up in the neighbor’s kid’s bed.

My favorite bit was when the POTW was saying, “I’m as straight as any of you are.” Thirteen gives him a look that is priceless…

Also, when House kept raising the coffee cup (with the POTW’s breast milk in it) to his lips, but keeps getting distracted from drinking it. He finally shoos everyone out of the room when they really want to stay and watch him drink it.

Taub continues to be my favorite character, though. Everyone else is either in awe of House or afraid of him (or, more likely, both). But Taub just seems to be internally rolling his eyes at the whole experience, knowing it is just a temporary phase in his career, and a voluntary one at that.

Hey, non-stereotypical gay characters!

I don’t think House was distracted from drinking the coffee. He wanted to see everybody’s reactions. He raises the cup to his lips, everybody stares. He just enjoyed playing with everybody’s minds. He had no intention of drinking the coffee with the patient’s milk in it. He just wanted everyone’s rapt attention.

Yeah, he was definitely toying with them. He gives the cup a “ugh, I almost had to drink that” look when everyone else leaves the room.

What was the deal at the end with the napkin rings? Taub gave then to House who put them on the counter where they were picked up and - I think - tossed in the trash by the PA.

I lost interest partway through. Had no sympathy for the POTW “I’m not gay!” and his GF/BF. Hell, when he started lactating I was trying to figure out how they could have missed that he was a transexual! :stuck_out_tongue:

Must have been the least believable B&E ever. And 13 was just going to pound those 5 martinis? As entertaining as the karaoke was, it lost me because to do that back-up House and Foreman would have had to practice their moves.

They’re setting us up for the season ending cliff-hanger when House dramatically downs a handful of Vicodin.

I missed the first 15 minutes, so I didn’t see him wake up in the neighbor’s kid’s bed. I just assumed that he had had such a good time hanging out and drinking with 13, Chase, and Foreman that he was starting to drink more. Addictive behavior and all that.

See, I’d thought that he would just put regular cow’s milk in the sample container, and actually drink the coffee.

Hey! House is a stomach sleeper, just like me!

I was aghast at the list of anti-gay “treatments”–drugs, aversion therapy and shock treatments. Does anyone believe that SHIT really works?

I’m just glad someone finally caught them breaking and entering! Of course, they still didn’t get in trouble for it.

Funny, I was watching that scene with House and 13 in the bar and thinking “They haven’t mentioned her Parkinson’s in a long time. I guess they’ve dropped that story line.” Then I see her hand shake as she picks up the martini glass.

With Dead Amber looking over his shoulder?

Minor nitpick: 13 has Huntington’s, not Parkinson’s.

Unfortunately, a pillar of several popular religions is that it does, or at least might.

Love in Action did “reparative therapy” for those with so-called “broken” (gay) behaviors for a while, though they might have stopped. There was no ECT or injection that I know of but there was a lot of therapy, workshops, etc.

I don’t think that’s the norm. When they’ve shown him sleeping before, he’s tended to be on his side. It seems to me pretty stereotypical that someone who has been drinking will usually be portrayed sprawled-out, face-down, and fully-clothed.
I liked the episode. The PotW was kind of lame, but I think that the sub-plots really did a good job of driving home the overall theme of the season of relationships and finally revealed what we’ve probably all been suspecting, that the reason he doesn’t seem any better is because he isn’t. Obviously, the big reveal was at the end, but the openning, combined with the drinking he was doing while out with 13 and the guys and having fun makes it pretty clear that he’s probably been drinking pretty heavily for a while.

I’m also kind of surprised that Taub didn’t see the whole napkin ring thing coming and was surprised that it was House that was in the bidding war with him. I did like the final scene with Cuddy; that last line was great.
