House 9/28

Great CGI, and two lines:

Thirteen: “This might be the best thing I’ve ever eaten . . . and yes, I’m including what you’re thinking of now.”

Wilson: “My godson made me that mug.”

No possible way that was true. :stuck_out_tongue:

Glad to see Andre Braugher wasn’t just in the season premiere. Hope he continues to make appearances now & again.

Thirteen has a, well, not FAT, exactly, but not underfed person inside her politely requesting a way out. Which would do her some good, since she’s crossed the chronological border between “being able to carry that level of skinitude without looking odd” and “Honey, have something to eat. Honest, dear, it will help if you fill out your cheekbones.” I assume Foreman’s mama knows what to feed her, since he never seems lacking.
Okay, I’m lost in a reverie based on a friend’s grandmama’s collards, which tasted SO GOOD and did me SO WRONG because I was a white boy from Up North. There is an amazing amount of pork fat that can fit inside greens that are basically indigestible by humans, but it’s worth a try.

So do I, though I was telling my daughter how, once upon a time, he was young, tall, slender, and a really good TV actor, though now he was only #2 and #4.

(PSST! Andre! Being fat and middle-aged leaves you open to jokes about being fat and middle-aged, even if us jokers are just trying to drag you down to our level.)

Great episode! Things I liked:

The weird videogame intro. I thought for a moment that my DVR had recorded the wrong show. The recurrence of the CGI later as the patient was hallucinating was cool, too.

The POTW was good–I liked the antagonist role that he took on.

Lots of great House/Wilson interaction. “You may have just saved my balls.” “That’s the spirit!”

House peeing in the coffee mug.

I loved that Foreman was reminded once again that he is not House.
Other thoughts:
Please let this be the beginning of the end of ‘Foreteen.’ I actually like Thirteen (seems like a lot of viewers hate her) and I dislike Foreman, so I don’t like them together.

So is Taub really leaving? I like the character, but I’d also like to see Cameron and Chase brought back to having bigger roles on the show instead of the token appearances they make these days. If that means losing Taub–and even Thirteen–then I’d be for it.

I think the less Cuddy, the better. I like Lisa Edelstein, but her character is just so ridiculously incompetent and unbelievable as a hospital administrator that it takes me out of the show.

She only gets that way around House. She lays down the law with everyone else.

I had to laugh out loud when I realized House was the one that solved the case online. When 13 told him the patient posted his symptoms online I guess he just couldn’t resist.

I also liked House solving the problem with Wilson’s balls. With the usual music playing as if House is solving a medical mystery.

So House has been clean for one episode. Is that a new record for him? It’s interesting to see Hugh Laurie play a more dependent and vulnerable House. House actually listening to someone give advice about his problems and then actually use that advice is something we have never seen from House. After five seasons it’s probably about time.

I couldn’t help thinking how close they came to a gay relationship (not that it hasn’t occurred to me before . . . wishful thinking).

Oh, and I liked the little scene with the Chinese gal in House’s kitchen.

I thought the scene with the Chinese lady was …amusing… but improbable. Is House really that socially comfortable already to bring a classmate home, just to cook with? If he knew Cuddy was coming over it’d be one thing, or if it was a romantic situation.

Undetermined. However, Jennifer Morrison is leaving the show. Too bad; the world rises up in loathing of Olivia Wilde, and still she remains.

I’m trying to figure if it is something about me that makes me underwhelmed with new seasons of my old favorite shows, but this one was pretty “meh!” Thought the “Balls” stuff not at all as clever as I would expect from those 2. And really lost it when the patient was freaking out in the lobby and NO ONE did anything for the longest time.

Was afraid for a while that this season would be a series of House’s newhobby-of-the-week. Yeah, fire your girlfriend! That’s the way to make sure you don’t lose her! Is 13’s forehead getting larger as the rest of her gets skinnier?

And yes, Andre Braugher is superb. “I guess I was wrong!” :stuck_out_tongue:

Oh man, that sucks. I was sure Cameron was going to be the new team leader, with House “on” the team.

It was weird to see the virtual reality gaming animation show up here and there during the ep.

Best lines: “You saved my balls” and “I’m watching the Biggest Loser marathon. I like to pretend they can see me eating.”

I have to admit that I’ve done some internet searching in regard to ailments too–but only to get more info, not to try to run circles around doctors.

Ball jokes never get old.

Mildly amusing: The actor who played the POTW was ALSO on the very next show, “Lie to Me” as the brother of the (woman) main character of the week (played by Erika Christensen).

I looked at both listings for those episodes on IMDB and couldn’t find the name of the actor.

J.

I don’t know his name but he reminded me of a cross between Eric Bogosian and Brad Garrett.

Apparently it was Rick Wasserman as Vince in House, but I can’t find a credit for him in Lie to Me.

That’s unfortunate. And Morrison is being written out as a plot device, she is not quitting. Although I’m not in the pack of Thirteen haters, I much prefer Cameron and would have liked to see her rejoin the team. Perhaps with Thirteen fired, they’ll have Taub reconsider quitting because he stated he was leaving since House was no longer there. However, that would leave the team without a woman (assuming Chase stays with House’s team), and I’m sure the writers would have Cuddy insist on hiring back Thirteen or some other female doctor to fill her position.

No love for Thirteen/Cameron action?

Why the assumption that Thirteen is actually fired. Every person in that hospital has been fired and/or quit 23 times each.

I predicted that with a somewhat more tolerable House that Cameron would be tempted and cheat with him. Don’t know if the actress being written out strengthens or weakens that guess.

Interesting. I wonder if the math to be done is that Chase shacks up with Thirteen. That would be cool - I like both characters, and dislike both their current SOs.
