I thought he introduced her has his “cooking teacher” - he’d already gotten so obsessed with cooking that he’d signed up for private lessons.
That needle was too thin to push yolk or ragu through.
Wait, just as we get the original team back, they’re writing out Cameron? Boo.

Interesting. Reading between the lines from that article, I would suggest Cameron is going to finally get those children she wants so much. Exit Dr., enter mommy.
I liked the episode, have noticed that 13 looks a bit thin, and thought the whole relationship vs working with each other was already difficult, making one a boss of the other is definitely a catastrophe in the making. Foreman was definitely an ass.
I’ve never really cared for Taub. The few times he garners sympathy, he then counteracts by hit attitude. Won’t miss him. Will miss Cameron, though. Maybe Thirteen will be back.
As a Pats fan, I liked the Tom Brady / Matt Cassel reference.
This was one of my least favorite House episodes to date, but with a few really great moments.
The big complaints:
-
House as Top Chef seemed really corny to me. Yeah, he’s brilliant. Cooking still requires a unique skillset and the implication that House had become a master in the kitchen in a couple days seemed really goofy to me.
-
The videogame subplot was just horrible. Terrible dialogue in game, really lousy visuals, and to top it all off they made the game mid-90s-style immersive VR which was just a terrible choice. Way, WAY too fakey.
-
The medical mystery just wasn’t very interesting, since 99% of it was second-guessing and arguing and there was ultimately no real twist to it.
The good:
- House collecting the check at the end
- House’s and Wilson’s performances in general
- Chase and Cameron taking shots at Foreman
Yes, yes, a thousand times yes. Why is it that movie and TV show producers always have to get so over the top when it comes to video games ? The X-Files episode on that same premise (super duper new video game about to hit the market, bad shit happens) had the same VR shtick, and drove me equally nuts.
ATTENTION, CALIFORNIA ! Virtual Reality died alone in the early 90s, unloved, unmourned, unwanted. Pay attention. And buy a damn Xbox or something, jeez.
I’m still holding out a few episodes, but this episode was a good sign that things might not return to status quo.
Hated the patient, but I guess we were supposed to.
Hated Foreman but I guess we were supposed to.
Loved the House Wilson bromance. And the continuance of the psych doctor.
Won’t be sad if Taub goes. He only worked with the other guy as his foil.
His leaving and 13’s firing and Foreman’s promotion all seem predicated on House’s absence so we’ll see if any of that sticks when he comes back.
Where’s Cameron?
I actually really liked the patient. He was intelligent and took a very active role in his treatment, which I think is a pretty smart thing to do. It doesn’t hurt getting a second opinion.
Well, he spent the whole episode making different diagnoses until he had a spark of inspiration at the end and realized what it was. Remind you of anyone?
I’m still waiting for House/Wilson action.
But didn’t you love Taub dropping to the floor like a potato bug while Thirteen walked away?
Thank you! (Though I know nothing of needles.) Does anyone know if that actually would be possible? Seems like it’d get jammed with tomato bits. The yolk I might buy making it through.
Yes, and the same revelation! theme music as he contemplated his pruny fingertips and went…very…still while inspiration hit…a little bit of a parody of the formula.
The scene where Thirteen and shirtless Foreman lay on the bed, side-by-side on their backs totally pulled me out of the show. It was so obviously to show off Foreman’s body, and to my eye, I was surprised that he was so slim. In fact they both appeared to have the same size waist. It was like, observe two beautiful people.
I could be wrong, but I am 95 percent sure that the videogame level (minus the creatures and protagonists, just the map) is from F.E.A.R. 2.
I’ve pushed yolk through using a hole I made with a needle (I widened it a teeny bit, but it was still pretty small). Never done Ragu, though, so can’t attest to that.
Too much armpit for my taste.
Don’t make me thump you
I especially liked when Thirteen’s video character gave Taub’s video character a sarcastic one-eyebrow-raised look. That’s an impressive visor.
Not far off from what Project Natal should be able to do, from what I’ve read.
So SDMB, would you like to hear my cheerleader story?
