House MD 2/13

A snowstorm hits the ER on Valentine’s Day, while House deals with a patient who cannot feel pain.
Are you game?

I’ve never worked with a hot babe who dispassionately offered me sex. Life just isn’t fair.

I am currently incapable of rational thought because my mind is indisposed towards anything that is not high-pitched House/Cuddy squealing.

Good ep. What a strange and dangerous life it would be if you couldn’t feel any pain. Infections, broken bones, scars…Glad it isn’t me.

I loved the House/Cuddy interaction and the House/Wilson scenes as well.

I’m just surprised that Cuddy took soooo long to figure out that House ‘Likes’ her.
I always got the sense that he’s had some subliminal fondness for her since the show started.

So, a person who can’t feel pain can’t feel anything? Like, she could never have an orgasm? That would suck.

I thought it was odd when she said she couldn’t cry. I cry all the time when I’m not in physical pain. What’s up with that?

My favorite moment was when the OR nurse (or doctor or anesthesiologist) whipped out her cellphone and took a picture of the tapeworm.

All in all, I enjoyed this episode more than some recent ones.

But no more new episodes for 3 weeks? And then some big revelation about House.

I bet it’s he’s in lo-ove with Cuddy! (gag - that would suck if that were the revelation)

For some reason, that tapeworm was one of the grossest things I’ve ever seen on TV. Maybe because the girl was watching it being cut out of her. Ack!

If you were in House’s situation, would you let them amputate your leg? He’s apparently desperate to get rid of the pain, but not desperate enough to live with a prosthetic leg.

I watched a documentary not long ago, “A Life Without Pain”, about three kids with congenital insensitivity to pain. They do feel sensations, just not pain.

It was very creepy. One baby girl started chewing her own fingers bloody when she began to teethe. They had to put splints on her arms to keep her hands out of her mouth. Her eyes were in really bad shape because she scratched at them.

Seriously! From the first episode I’ve been saying, “Hellloooooo, sexual tension!” I like that it’s finally out in the open, but I kind of hope that they don’t go anywhere else with it, because I think it’s better to keep the tension and banter going.

I think my favorite part of this episode was Foreman’s little conversation with Cameron. While I thought his tenderness towards her was a little out of character, it seemed very appropriate that he would manage to not apply the same message in his own love life.

I am amused yet disappointed to learn that NBC does, in fact, own www.singleballroomdancelovers.com, but has not done anything with it. C’mon, people!

And I’d also like to be the first to say that I’d gladly make the noble sacrifice to occupy the other half of Cuddy’s bed for her. I’m just that kind of guy.

Yay, maybe they’ll finally start developing Chase’s character now. They don’t do much with him. They’ve managed to turn Foreman into an interesting character so hopefully they can do the same with Chase.
It was cool to see him take charge in this episode.

I love how Wilson doesn’t even bat an eye now when he says something that causes House to get that look of realization on his face and dart off. He’s used to it.

This is such a great show. It was originally almost a guilty pleasure but now it’s one of my favorites.

I’m sure the camera phone owner was thinking, “Oh, this is SO going on You Tube as soon as my shift is over!”

But seriously: ick!!!

I found that last scene very amusing, especially since Cameron and Chase are engaged IRL.

Let’s see if they have on screen chemistry!

Yes. Usually the sense of touch is normal otherwise, but the sensations that cause pain don’t register. They can pick up things, for instance, but anything that would hurt most people gives no sensation at all. They’re in real danger, since they can sustain major damage and not realize it.

I thought the episode shows House at the top of his form – good mystery, great lines.

Wouldn’t chemistry require them to be better actors? I don’t think those two could manage chemistry in real-life.

Try to catch the episode “Three Stories” when they’re replaying House (is it on USA Network??). It explains all about House’s condition and why he refused to let them cut off his leg.

I couldn’t agree more. Wilson is so obviously House’s soulmate.

That would explain why he puts up with House. I was leaning towards simple masochism.

I’ll say one thing for House’s character; he might be ten kinds of self-absorbed asshole, but he’s rarely boring. Actually, strike that. He’s starting to get boring now that he’s so predictably unpredictable. What’s the right thing to do? Just assume House will do the opposite. I kinda hope the revelation about his character is something meaningful, because his mult-facetedness is starting to get one-dimensional.

It turns out that he’s Keyser Soze.

I’ve seen it. He decided to risk his life to keep his leg. I don’t think he knew he’d be in crippling pain for the rest of that life.

Now, it seems like he could get rid of the pain by removing the leg, so he must really be attached to it. That’s some kind of stubborn, considering that he is willing to resort to dangerous (the experimental induced-coma treatment) and unethical (stealing a nerve biopsy from a kid) means to get rid of the pain.

I suppose the real reason is that the show wouldn’t exist without House’s pain, therefore he must endure it.
