House MD-season premiere 9/5

This Tuesday, Gregory House, MD, kicks off the new season of the series by returning to work after having been shot. Complications with other patients’ maladies accompany this, of course.
As much as I am fascinated by House, I gotta tell ya: I really like Wilson. Hope they continue to give him more screen time.

     See you soon....

Speaking of Wilson, I watched Dead Poet’s Society last night…so young and cute!!

I cannot wait for the new season of House. It’s my favorite show on non-premium cable.

Just a reminder for people - the show is airing at 8:00 PM Eastern / 7:00 PM Central, not 9:00 PM / 8:00 PM as it has the previous two years. (At least, that’s what the local Fox affiliate is doing, but I’m pretty sure that carries over to any area.)

I’ve already set up the DVR for series recording since I don’t usually get around to paying attention to what’s on tv until 8:30 or so (since Himself doesn’t get off work until 8:00.)

Just a helpful tip.

Thanks for the heads-up. I haven’t watched a single thing on TV all summer, and would have missed this if not for your post.

Yeah, I think one of the only regular network shows that started sooner than this was Bones. Thank goodness for the end of reruns!

I’m torn; as much as I like House, do I like it more than Gilmore Girls? Definitely not. OTOH, who knows if GG is going to be as good this year now that it’s got a new show runner. Grumble grumble stupid networks, programming two shows I want to watch at the same time.

Having caught House a couple of months ago while channel surfing, and having realized in 5 minutes the show was good, in 10 minutes that the show was damn good, and becoming addicted in about 15 minutes, I’m still ass kicking myself I didn’t watch it sooner.

I’m glad for the new season.

Like you, Annie X-Mas, I did not start watching until the summer re-runs. What a fantastic show. I was fortunate enough to catch the season finale so I am up to speed for this season.
Can’t wait for tonight’s episode!

A friend turned me on to the show not long ago, so I’ve been catching up via Netflix DVDs. Still waiting for the remaining second season DVDs; so I’m going to be taping the new shows so I can watch them in sequence once I’ve seen all of Season Two.

I knew there was something in particular about the character that appealed to me; it became clearer when I saw that House’s address was 221-B.

I still have the season 2 cliffhanger on the DVR. I’ve been saving it to re-watch immediately before the season 3 opener tonight.

Clare Kramer, who played Glory on Buffy, will be in tonight’s episode. (I saw her at DragonCon over the weekend.)

We just rewatched the finale of season 2 last night, so we are ready to go!
I don’t know if this should be in a spoiler or not, but just in case:

The whole thing was a lot less confusing the second time around. AFAICT, the whole show was unconscious, the patient with the tongue problem only existed prior to the shooting, all the random complications were just House’s brain trying to fix things, and it was also his own diagnosis and recommended treatment for his injuries. That’s why he asked for ketamine - he had read a study about it related to pain, and it’s what he would have chosen for another patient

Slight hijack for a couple questions:

I’ve just recently started watching the reruns of House on USA (Friday nights at 11 if memory serves.) Does anyone know how far behind the current series these are running?

Also, is it worth picking up the series at it’s present point (starting at tonight’s season premiere) with my knowledge of the series (possibly) severely behind?

Thanks for your help.

Count me in as another House fan. I’ve even got my roommate hooked on it.

No comments on the show tonight?

Well, since it aired 2 to 3 hours ago depending on where you’re at I am not going to box spoilers.

I think it was silly for Wilson to tell Cuddy not to tell House he was right about the guy because several people in the hospital saw what happened and word gets around, also the wife could eventually stop by to thank House in person.

Also, is it really feasible that after so many years of vegetablism would one shot “cure” him that quickly?

I’m sure House will discover the truth eventually. Nobody in that hospital is very good at keeping things secret for long, and he’s modeled after a detective, after all.
I’m wondering about the shot of cortisol too. It’s a stress hormone, isn’t it? Bit of a stretch, perhaps.
Was that Kathleen Quinlan as the paralyzed man’s wife? I recognized the kid as having been on Surface but I hadn’t noted the credits carefully.
I always enjoy the dynamic between House and Wilson.

Scurvy? I didn’t realize people still got that.

This episode felt very, very wrong. I kept thinking it was another dream like last season’s closer, but then it just… ended. Almost everyone ranged from moderately out of character to me saying, “There’s no fucking way.” Also, I can buy House’s leg not hurting anymore, but that doesn’t make his missing thigh muscles magically grow back. Running for miles and doing skateboard tricks is a bunch of bullshit.

Did you see the previews? The quadriplegic dude is going to be stopping by again. I imagine it will come up.

Yeah, I wondered about that. He still had missing muscle tissue, the procedure only took away his pain, so he still should have had a limp.

Yes, that was Kathleen Quinlan as the wife and the kid from Surface as the son.

Yeah, the running for miles thing irks the hell out of me.

Unfortunately, I’m half mad for Hugh Laurie, so they could shovel steaming piles of bullshit onto us every week and I’d still sit enthralled.

So, at the end… did he fill out the prescription for Vicodin and took it with him, or did he stop? I glanced away for a moment and the scene was gone…
