Yea, I forgot about that part. She may simply have been at home. I know others have objected that that’s just to convenient but consider what her and House were just through at the accident site. It’s not unreasonable that they may have both felt they needed a day off to recuperate physically and emotionally.
I’m not saying that’s what happened, just that I can imagine the writers doing it.
But she didn’t know that, did she? House told her assistant she was sick and needed the day off and for him to use his own brain. Then he told Chase to tell the assistant he could do neurosurgery in order to keep the ER and ICU open. The assistant didn’t buy that of course. But House intercepted the assistant’s calls and kept Cuddy in the dark so that she would stay at his place. And probably later he would use that to make the point to Cuddy that the hospital won’t fall apart if she’s not there every minute. And later, when Wilson arrived, Cuddy hid, so Wilson couldn’t relay her the information.
I’m also not convinced something funny isn’t going on.
She is a little too enthusiastic about things. If one is going back into what one knows is a troublesome relationship, you are not going to be all cuddles and sunshine. You are going to be scared, exhilarated and passionate. You are going to be swept away, not just merrily playing board games. And it’s not going to be a sudden “Ok, yeah lets do this” thing. It’s going to have some moments of real self-reflection.
And her hiding made no sense, according to the things she was saying. It just didn’t fit together right.
Something more is going on. I don’t see how it could have happened, but could she have died? Or something?
