I’m a gay male and the size doesn’t matter. A TV has to appropriate for the room. Whether it’s too big or too small, depends on the size of the room it’s located in
I’m a guy and I’m dreaming of a 60 inch plasma. I’ve got a 42 inch plasma now.
I have a 42 inch SD plasma. Considering how close I sit, the biggest I would ever get for myself is a 52 inch. Anything bigger and I’d have to sit further away, negating the need for the larger size in the first place.
A friend of mine has a DLP and his screen is his wall, making it about 12 feet on the diagonal. That’s way too big, and what makes it worse is that he doesn’t have reflective paint on the wall, and daylight washes it out so badly that it’s unwatchable before 8pm.
If I ever become foolishly wealthy, I want my own home theater. No no, not what they call a home theater at Best Buy, but some stadium seating (there has to be a way to do that with recliners, right? platforms etc) a small movie theater size screen in my home. 10’ or 12’ should do.
Oh, I’m a chick ftr.
I really don’t care. I mean, I really don’t care. I’m pretty sure the one in the room I’m usually in is on the order of 20" or so, and it suits me fine. It might be as big as 24". If I’m involved in the story, I just need to be able to see it.
Ordinarily I’d be for larger screens, as long as I can sit far enough away that it doesn’t look grainy. But right now I’m having huge motion sickness issues, and smaller would be better. Some shows I just can’t watch.
I don’t have a single large screen TV but I do enjoy watching football or a movie if it’s in hi def. I’d rather have a smaller screen if it brings a better picture.
I remember fondly going to a friend’s house and seeing a 108" screen with an HD projector. I had no idea that TV that big could look so gorgeous. They had nice recliners out, and they put on the blu-ray edition of “Planet Earth,” and I swear I started drooling.
Some day, my friends.
That’s similar in size to my set-up and I agree - Blue-ray Planet Earth at that size is jaw droppingly awe inspiring. As soon as I work up the motovation, the next screen I want to build will be in the 160-165" range.
