How 'bout dem folders

Ok, we’ve got things now called folders. Everyone has a Subscription folder, that I understand. What I don’t understand is how to use other folders we develop. What I’d like to do is put links to favorite threads in them, things like that. Have different folders for different topics, etc. How does one do that???

Thanks to anyone who knows.

Go to your control panel by clicking the UserCP link in the menu.

By clicking the ‘edit folders’ link on the control panel page, you’ll be taken to a new page where you can add, rename and delete folders as you wish.

Then, when ever you come across a thread you find interesting, subscribe to it and you’ll be able to select which folder you want it to go in.

To access the folders in order to read your favourite threads, go to your control panel again and click the ‘subscribed threads’ dropdown menu.

An alternative method for both editing and accessing the folders is to use ‘quick links’ dropdown menu.

Assuming you have already created a new folder, and subscribed to the thread you wish to archive, you have to check the “notification box” on the right side of any thread you wish to move to your alternate folder. Then, near the bottom of the subscriptions folder page, there’s a pull down that says “Move to folder . . .” Pick this and then click the “Go” button next to it. The resulting screen will display a pulldown with your available target folders. Select the appropriate one, and again click “Go.”

It a kinda unwieldly process, but that’s the only way I can find to make it work right now. Also, I dunno for how long it might be enabled; we may disable it when we make the other interface customizations, so I wouldn’t rely on it justs yet.

There ya go, Kal’s already posted a more streamlined solution before I could get in there. But I’ll remind you again, that feature may, or may not be available when we finish customizing the interface. It’d certainly be a handy thing to have, though.
