They really, really are. When my parents were separated (they’ve since reconciled) for a few weeks in 2007, the police kept asking my mom “do you feel threatened? do you want him gone? we can make him leave” over and over and over again, when there was no report of any physical violence going on. He was living at their vacation home 45 minutes away, she had no problem with that. But she was rather shocked and felt they were pushing her to say he was abusive or COULD be abusive, and that alone would kick him out of his own home.

Yup - I can’t stress that enough. If the police ever show up, it doesn’t matter what he says or who’s bleeding, HE will be the one arrested.
