How Cold Will it Be When the New Year Arrives at Your Location?

61F expected at midnight, thankfully cool this year. Will be taking my daughters for their first midnight NYE fireworks, now that they are old enough to stay up that late.

My wife is on a business trip to New York. I hate the heat and she hates the cold - we really got this one wrong!

As a right now, at 12:01 on 1/1 it’s fittingly forecast to be 1.

C or F?

They got it exactly right. Impressive.

Where I am it is bright and sunny out, and -23 F. “Feels like” -43.

Right now where I am (Barry’s Bay, ON), it is brilliantly sunny and beautiful – pale blue sky, snow with crystalline glitter, on the ground and trees – and -19C. The prediction is for a low of -30C tonight before windchill.

Environment Canada has revised our forecast. Now, we’re looking at -31C tonight.

It should warm up by midweek, if -4C during the day is warm. At any rate, it will be better than what we’ve got now.

I’m in the SE Indiana 'burbs of Cincinnati, forecast:

Midnight tonight: 8 degrees F
Wind Chill: -1 degrees F

It’s lightly snowing now.

Update from Environment Canada for Regina for tonight:

“Extreme Cold Warning in Effect”.

Overnight low forecast at -33 C.

With windchill, -42 C.

NWS is holding steady on our prediction. 62F/17C and a light breeze under partly cloudy skies. It’s just sunset a couple minutes ago with 72F/22C & clear skies with a bit of high cirrus here and there.

36F and damp. T’ain’t fit weather for man nor beast.

7°C with heavy showers. Pretty much bang on average for here.

Tonights low is forecasted at 12F.

4 days ago, the low was almost 40F.

Amazing what a cold front can do to weather.

We have no plans to leave the house on New Years Eve.

We’re going out in half an hour to take the Cub to see Ferdinand at the movies.

It’s forecast to be 9 or 10 degrees. Dang, I miss the old days, before global warming, when you could have your New Year’s Eve party outside.

Supposed to be 14 F / Feels Like 6 F with wind chill in Baltimore MD.

This is more like the upstate NY temps I grew up with, not the mid Atlantic!

Well, it’s 40 minutes to midnight now in Monteagle Valley and it’s already -32C (-25F).

Well, we ended up at -34C/-29F. I’ll be glad when this cold snap is over.

Dunno how cold it was at midnight, but when I let my dog out at 6, it was 8°F!!!

It’s funny how within literally a 70 degree range, people ITT are freaking out about how bitter cold it is. (All in all, there’s about a 100 degree range, but the people in the top 20 degrees of that aren’t complaining.)
