How Cold Will it Be When the New Year Arrives at Your Location?

20F here in Carrollton. Where in Georgia are you?

Not midnight New Years it isn’t. I get 46F with a wind chill of a frigid 45F. Maybe you looked at noon.

72F this afternoon near me when I went to the store.

I screwed that up. :smack:

It’ll be 64F/17C at midnight.

Us boring oldsters don’t always stay up to local midnight. More than once I’ve declared New Years at UTC midnight, had my toast, then gone back to football, feasting, or whatever until bedtime.

At UTC midnight NWS predicts 68F/20C just after sunset. Works for me.

According to Weather Underground it will be 49 and partly cloudy at midnight in San Jose.

Here at my friends’ house in Monteagle Valley, ON, midnight New Year’s Eve is supposed to be -23C with a wind chill of -33. The forecast low is -28 around 6:00.

Monteagle Valley. Only 2.5 hours’ drive from skyscrapers and subways, but a world away!

Welcome, Papa Joe! Would you like some ice cream? It’s fresh! I left it outside on the deck for an hour and it’s nice and cold.

Supposed to be around 20 F here in Fort Worth that night–pretty darn cold for us. The predicted low Monday night is around 15 F. Yikes.

Prediction for here is -25C. Not bad, considering it’s -35 right now.

5°F with a 75% chance of snow, windchill of -2. That would be Zeeland, MI.

We spent a couple days in a yurt on Lake Michigan this past week with a windchill of -9 and a foot of snow falling on us. The yurt itself got quite warm, it was the trips to the outhouse that were a little uncomfortable. It hasn’t stopped snowing for the past 36 hours and the next 36 hours seem to be pretty much the same. When our Jack Russell goes out to pee, the snow is a good 10 inches taller than him. I wouldn’t mind so much but my new snowblower is in the shop until at least Wednesday, and it’s getting harder and harder to get in and out of our driveway, even with 4X4.

This weather is pretty nuts.

New years’ midnight temp in this North Houston suburb will be 36F. Lows are expected to drop well below freezing for the 3-4 days after.

Ay, I doubt we’ll be singing Auld Lang Syne on the steps of the Saskatchewan Legislature at midnight, which we have done on previous New Year’s Eves.

Stone Cold Drunk

Bolding mine. Those two things shouldn’t go together. What happened? If you get snowed in does that mean you need to wait to Spring to recover your snow blower you won’t need again until Fall?

Well, it’s a year old, but it still shouldn’t need to be in the shop. I look out at my pretty long driveway (luckily we live in the country, so there are no local ordinances telling us we need to clear it) and it’s making me more and more nervous as the snow piles up. As of now, the diciest part of the driveway is the end, I can boulder on through the rest of it, but pulling out onto the road and turning into it from the road is getting tricky as the tire lanes freeze. I may need to go shovel down there today.

Worse comes to worse, we’ll call a plow service to clear it up for us.

Y’know, when the Canadians are taking shelter, it’s bad.

As those who followed my hurricane narrations know, I’ve been relocated by work to the Washington, DC area. At my current abode in Arlington the expected conditions at 0000H of 01/01 EST are balmy compared to our top bunk neighbors: air temperature 16F, wind chill to 1F. I damn sure will be indoors.

For the last 25 years my standard location was San Juan, PR where the expected temp is 76F with high humidity (dew point 71F).

It is forecast to be 65 degrees Fahrenheit here in Waikiki at the stroke of midnight on New Year’s Eve. We’re just a couple blocks from the beach and will walk down thre for the fireworks show. I’ll probably wear a sweater, but otherwise it will still be okay for shorts.

Roseburg, Oregon: 40°f at midnight. No wind at all, no rain in the forecast for the next several days (it’s been a scary dry winter so far). Other than the lack of rain, a pretty normal New Year’s. This year my wife and I are chaperoning some Cub Scouts during a lock-in. I’m not at all looking forward to that.

Well, we have some reason to be discussing the cold weather:

Parts Of Canada Are Currently Colder Than The North Pole, The South Pole And Mars

About 75F.

Overnight lows 77
High 84, which usually feels like 92.
