How do bigots explain this?

How do bigots explain hating Jews when many of them also claim to be “God fearing Christians”? Uh… Christ was a Jew, right? So how can they be devoted to a Jew when they also claim to hate Jews? How exactly can this rationale be explained?

Simple answer, they think the Jews killed Jesus, thus they dont like Jews. There is other reasons that have been discussed, something about the jews being the only ones allowed to loan money to christians along time ago. But the biggest reason todays bigots hate Jews is because their Daddy hated Jews/blacks/hispanics/irish/white people whatever.

It has to be deeper than that.

A white man killed Lincoln Rockwell. Why not hate all white men?

I know why Jews are hated, but what I don’t understand is how they can then say they love Jesus. Is he an “Honorary Gentile” or something.

The OP is, I think, assuming first that bigots have reasons for hating, and second that they know what most of us consider to be the truth (let’s not get into that debate, please).

You can turn a blind eye to any number of things and have one group of people look like they’ve been opressed all their lives, for the entire history of humanity. You do that enough and you start to believe it. That’s sometimes the case with bigots.

And then there’s the fact that most of them are assholes who never look beyond the shit in their toilets.

It’s not really an issue. Christ was a Jew, but once he died all Jews should have seen the light and become God-fearin’ Christians. They didn’t so they’re heathen scum doomed to burn in hell for all eternity.
What were you thinking pkbites expecting bigots to have rational explanations for their beleifs? If they had rational explanations they wouldn’t be bigots. Hell if they had half a brain they wouldn’t be bigots.

You’re not exactly like ME.
Therefore you are inferior.

This is an emotional issue. No logic is needed or wanted.

I’m confused here… people are saying the Jews killed Jesus? I thought it was the Romans.

The jewish authorities brought Jesus up on charges of being a traitor to the king. (ironic, if you consider the macabees…). Herod couldn’t find anything wrong with him, and tried to get out of it by offering to pardon him or a notorious criminal. The criminal got the free pass, and Jesus went to the cross.

it boils down to the Romans doing the dirty work, but the Jewish authorites having them do it simply because he didn’t fit into their view of the world.

that’s the I’ve-been-up-for-20-hours-chasing-two-toddlers version. Your bible may have different details.

If you really want to experience what bigots are like, join Yahoo Clubs (http://clubs.yahoo.com) and install their chat software, with voice capability. Then go visit the “Voice Chat” section and look for a User Room with “KKK” in the title.

I did this a couple of weeks ago. For a few minutes it was amusing, until I realized that these people were perfectly serious. The continual stream of distilled hatred turned my stomach. I couldn’t even feel sorry for them.

Anyway, listen to those guys for a couple of minutes and then ask yourself if they really care that their position on Jesus doesn’t make perfect sense.

As we know, Hitler was so alarmed by rumours of his own Jewry that he had the Nazi law defining Jews written to specifically exclude Jesus Christ and himself.

It can’t. Since when were racist scum rational?

Remember that we’re talking about a group of people who like to identify themselves with a “Race” (“Aryans”) that does not exist.

Actually, bigotry is pefectly rational to the bigot. This was explained to me by a professor who taught a logic class. It all comes down to one question: Do you believe that all people are equal? Bigots don’t believe this, so they don’t treat all people equally. It’s as simple as that.

As Archie Bunker once said:

Well, there’s nothing wrong with being a Jew. Jesus was a Jew until his father sat him down and told him, “No more of that.”

Logic just doesn’t enter into the equation for idiots.

I don’t think all people are equal. Some people are better than others. However, I don’t see any evidence that people from different parts of the world generally have a leg up on anyone else, so I wouldn’t describe myself as a racist.

But if you’re asking what motivates bigotry, Doug Bowe got pretty close. There’s no logic - it’s the human tribal instinct. We naturally look to protect people in our own family, and we also have a tendency to include people that we perceive in our own “tribe,” although to a lesser degree. The same kind of thing is responsible for people in America who want to provide public assistance for our poor, but not for the poor of the rest of the world, who are far worse off.

  1. Many of the folks to whom you refer DO NOT KNOW that Jesus was Jewish. In fact, they’ll often get downright offended if you mention that minor point to them.

  2. Many fundamentalist and conservative churches still teach that Jews killed Jesus and that therefore Jews are an evil people. Most of these churches emphasize believing what you are told rather than thinking for yourself (although you are encouraged to study for yourself, you are given ‘appropriate’ materials to study). The members of these churches believe what they are taught in church. Therefore they hate Jews.

  3. Even more moderate and mainstream churches still teach that Jews killed Jesus over the protests of the Romans. Although these churches are more encouraging of individual thought and study, few people bother to research the situation. (If they did, they might discover the political background of the Gospels, the contradictions in the Gospels, the falsities in the Gospels, etc., specifically in regards to this topic - but that very much depends on what references you study.) Since there is a very long history in Christianity that ‘Jews killed God and therefore are evil’, many people subscribe to this belief without thinking. Since many churches don’t do much to counteract this tradition or highlight the inconsistencies of their texts, the members may not realize the contradictions inherent in holding both beliefs.

  4. “God-fearing”. You often hate what you fear, although you may not admit it. The concept of wanting to be a God-fearing Christian has always puzzled me, personally, but chacun a son gout.
All of this is based upon my experience with local churches and Christians. YMMV.

I though he ended the legal definition at great grandparents or whatever relative he may have had.

Bigot: My few remaining brain cells will not allow me to possibly put myself in your shoes. You are different from me. Since I cannot comprehend your situation I must fear you. Since I am a coward that does not like to admit to fearing anything, I must hate you for making me fearful.

Fear = Hate

It’s that simple.

Disclaimer: I do not believe the following theory. But the OP asked how people who believe in the Old Testament can rationalize antisemitism.

According to the “Christian Identity Movement”, the Old Testament Hebrews were an Aryan nation. Most settled in Israel and Judah. The Lost Tribes wandered the earth, eventually migrating to Europe.

The Hebrews in Palestine intermarried with lesser races. Jesus was one of the last pure-blooded Hebrews. They killed him. His disciples spread the Gospel to Europe and the Aryans became Christian. Meanwhile, the mongrels from Palestine became the ancestors of the modern Jews.

The documentary and archeological evidence completely refutes this theory, but that doesn’t bother the bigots. They claim that historians and archeologists are all propagandists for the Great Jewish Conspiracy.

I suggest you ask the bigots you are talking about. It’s kind of hard for me to read their minds even though I am a Christian as well.

[nitpicks]It was Pilate, not Herod. Also Barrabas was a rebel (an “insurrectionist”, IIRC one translation), so he likely had a following.[/nitpicks]
Go back to the kids, and get some sleep!
