How do you brush your teeth?

First I brush my actual teeth, then my tongue, and then the top of my mouth.

It almost makes me puke but my mouth doesn’t feel  if I don’t do it.

I also don’t know how to ‘gargle’ so I don’t use mouthwash.

what are your methods…?

Ever since my dentist warned me about the dangers of receding gum tissue, I brush very carefully in a vertical motion on the sides of teeth, and vigorously in a fore-and-aft motion on the horizontal (upper or lower) surfaces.

My teeth are in great shape, but my gums have lost some of their grandeur because of years of vigorous longitudinal brushing on all surfaces.

Be warned!

I brush my tongue after I’ve done my teeth. I use the blue Listerine mouthwash afterwards.

My 30-40 minute oral hygeine routine:

Brush the top of my teeth along the gumline

Brush my teeth around the chewing surfaces

Scrub over, around and through the braces

Brush roof of mouth, scrape and brush tongue

Spend a good 5-10 minutes with the spiral proxabrush scrubbbing all the nooks, crannies and hooks on the brackets and archwires

Gently scrub my gums with the rotodent

Floss (15 minutes, at least!)

Last, scrub over the whole shebang with periocheck flouride, no rinsing.

Jesus, XJETGIRLX, your mouth is so clean they could do surgical procedures in there

I can’t believe I’m actually going to try and capture my toothbrushing regimen for this textual medium.

Start off with a horizontal back and forth motion for the tops of the teeth. Approximately ten cycles for both bottom and top.

Then move to the front of the teeth. Dividing the entire frontal area into six sub-areas, we give each of those ten away-from-the-gums strokes, both top and bottom. With a little practice the top and bottom stroke can be combined.

Then we move to the back, which gets a five sub-area division. Fifteen upstroke forward pulls for both the top and bottom frontal division, and six repititions of away-from-the-gums strokes for the four side divisions.

Then we move back for a good old 7-8 stroke scrubbing of the tops and sides of the molars (or crowns, as the case may be).

A quick 5-6 cycle circular stroke of both the upper and lower gums and we’re ready for the finale, which is the 7-10 stroke scrubbing of the tongue - sometimes initiating the gag response.

Then it’s rinse - spit - rinse - spit - drink - ahhhh - rinse and spit.

About 4 minutes involved, during which time a pot of coffee is made. If I floss, which I do, but not always, it adds another minute and a half to the process (sometimes necessary after cow-chow).

Bon appetit!

When: At night
Where: In the shower
What: Toothbrush + Toothpaste

In the morning I take a shot of listerine which I hold and swish in my mouth before going out to the rest of the world.

That’s kind of the idea, interface2x

I’m looking at having to have my wisdom teeth + 1 bicuspid extracted soon. Oi!

First I bursh the back and work my way around to the opposite side of my mouth in an up and down motion. Then, go back over them un a back and forth motion several times. Next, I brush my tongue and roof of my mouth. Rinse, and brush again with water. Rinse again.

I do this in the morning and sometimes at night. Always in the morning.
