It’s disturbing how long I’ve wanted to post this thread, but I’m honestly curious. Do you wash head to toe, or toe to head? Do you wash your hair before or after you wash your body? Do you brush your teeth while you’re in there? Speaking of brushing your teeth, do you floss? How often? Do you have a tongue scraper thingy? And what brand of products do you use?
**1) Do you wash head to toe, or toe to head? ** Head to toe
**2) Do you wash your hair before or after you wash your body? ** After, usually
**3) Do you brush your teeth while you’re in there? ** No.
**4) Speaking of brushing your teeth, do you floss? How often? ** No.
5) Do you have a tongue scraper thingy? No.
6) What brand of products do you use? Pantene Pro-V shampoo, either Dove, Ivory, or Yardley’s of London soap depending on my mood and what’s around at the moment, and no particular brands of toothpaste… they’re all nasty mint so I try to bear it as best I can with whatever I wind up using.
wash hair (Garnier Fructis for color-treated or permed hair)
condition hair (same or the Garnier Fructis three minute masque) - do not rinse
wash body, starting at the shoulder (this varies - I’m currently using Dial bodywash with “gentle micro-beads for daily exfoliation”)
rinse conditioner
shave as needed
I don’t brush in the shower. That’s just weird. I use Arm & Hammer Whitening toothpaste (that stuff that guarantees three shades whiter with just one tube), and I do floss with the Reach flosser (“It’s got a handle!”) twice a day. I do have a tongue scraper thingy, which I also use twice a day. I have insecurities about my breath, you see.
Umm, I think that’s about it unless I decide to go into moisturizers, hair products, etc.
Well… that’s interesting. I’ve gotta say I never really thought about this.
I tend to wash my “extremities” first, starting with the arms, then I “work my way down” to torso, legs… err, “etc.” Saving the especially dirty bits for last. If I’m washing my hair, I’ll wait til I’ve got the conditioner (“cream rinse?”) in to start with the washcloth, cos I like to leave the conditioner in for a bit, like the directions say (does anyone know if this actually does any good? what if I leave it in for 10 minutes as opposed to 3 minutes? Will my hair be excessively silky? Why?).
I dont brush my teeth in the shower 'cos I don’t like the foamy toothpaste nastiness getting all over me, plus I feel like I can never get the toothbrush TOTALLY cleaned off. I try to floss at least a couple times a week, but I’m a bit lazy… (reluctance) so sometimes I don’t even brush my teeth EVERY night… I don’t use a tongue scraper thingy. I always tried to get my tongue “too” clean and I’d end up gagging.
Um… brands? I don’t know. My toothpaste is Aquafresh (though I’m almost out, and I just bought AIM the other day - I remember always liking the taste when I was younger).
1) Do you wash head to toe, or toe to head? Face first then head to toe.
2) Do you wash your hair before or after you wash your body? Before my body, after my face.
3) Do you brush your teeth while you’re in there? Never.
4) Speaking of brushing your teeth, do you floss? How often? Yes, daily… possibly more than once depending on what I’ve eaten.
5) Do you have a tongue scraper thingy? No.
6) What brand of products do you use? Various shampoos (change them around to avoid shampoo build-up), Pantene Pro-V conditioner, Dove exfoliating soap and Dove face pillows, Apricot face scrub, various toothpaste, unwaxed floss, Renu contact solution, Proactive acne goo when I can afford it (it never burns my skin), and a skin mask I can’t remember the name of right now. I use a separate wash cloth for face and body, too.
All I can think of is TMI… tee hee!
Brush teeth before I get into the shower. Colgate something or Sensodyne.
Floss less than I should. Mouthwash but no tongue-scraping.
Get in shower and wash hair first, then work my way down.
Shave whatever needs shaving.
Condition hair and then rinse, rinse, rinse!
Shampoo varies each time I buy it, but conditioner is L’Oreal. Body soap is floral, usually a rose or jasmine scent. It’s weird, but I’ve noticed that the past few years, I’ve become very fussy about my soap scents. No “clean” or fruit scents (which I formally liked). I can’t stand Neutrogena on myself, but I don’t mind it on others.
Since body soap makes a mess of hair:
Wash all skin, the washing of which is likely to intoduce soap into hair (I wear mine terminal length, so this includes face, neck, shoulders, bank and chest)
Rinse off all soap
Apply shampoo (if hair is really dirty, else just conditioner (any wet slippery substance will do a good job of cleaning hair, and conditioner alone does less damage that shampoo + conditioner))
While waiting for conditioner to “bake in”, finish washing rest of skin.
Rinse top-to-bottom.
p.s. - wipe butt AFTER emptying colon - works better that way
Shampoo first - I use some kind of Suave shampoo - there’s blue on the label.
Wash face - generic body wash similar to oil of olay
Wash everything else from neck down - same generic body wash on a scrubby
Teeth get brushed after I get out.
No tongue scraping.
Flossing on very rare occasions - shame on me.
Head to toe: I start by shampooing (if it’s a shampoo day - that’s every other day) or conditioning (every day). If it was a hair-washing day, I rinse that and put the conditioner. Right now I’m using the Tresemme moisturizing shampoo and conditioner. Once that’s done:
Wash - Body Shop Tea Tree Oil bar soap - begin at the shoulders and work down. Rinse off hands, re-soap and wash face/ears/neck. Rinse everything off, including conditioner. The last step is a face/neck exfoliant (St. Ives medicated apricot facial scrub). Once that’s rinsed, turn off the water, squeeze excess water from hair and get out.
If it’s a shaving day, that happens after the conditioner goes on, but before the soap.
Do you brush your teeth while you’re in there? Speaking of brushing your teeth, do you floss?
I do not brush my teeth in the shower - some days that’s before I get in, other days it’s the first thing I do when I get out. I floss daily (I got one of those cool new flosser things and I’ve only flossed daily since I got that. It’s much easier to get into the tight spaces between crowns). If I feel like there’s stuff in between my teeth, I’ll floss more than once in the day.
-Shampoo first, don’t rinse
-Wash face, leave soap[cocoa-butter type] adhering for shave
-Soap down rest of body with deodarant soap
-Shave[I’ve got one of those attached to the showerhead anti-fog mirrors]
-Rinse face and hair
-Scrape tongue[try it, you’ll notice the difference]
-Turn off water and soap down body again, using puffy scrubby thingy
-Rinse with hand-held shower massage
-Emerge kissing sweet, to the delight of all
to plnnr: read somewhere that toothbrush bristles are too abrasive for use on the tongue. a tongue scraper is far gentler. the taste of the scraped off stuff is not unpleasant, but i’m glad it’s swirling down the drain with the rest of the nasties.
