How do you shower?

First off, I try to shower alone as much as possible, but I have a three year old ( almost 4) who will not shower alone. She will take a bath by herself, but sometimes there just isn’t enough time for that. When she is in the shower with me it throws off my whole showering routine.

  1. Do you wash head to toe, or toe to head? Head to toe

  2. Do you wash your hair before or after you wash your body? I wash my face, shampoo, rinse, I DO NOT REPEAT, condition while conditioner is sitting I work my way down. Then I brush my teeth, shave ( if neccessary ), rinse conditioner out of my hair, then do a final body rinse.

  3. Do you brush your teeth while you’re in there? Yes, I am the only one in my family who brushes in the shower. Sometimes my daughter will bring her toothbrush in, but not often.

  4. Speaking of brushing your teeth, do you floss? How often? Yes, I floss, but not as often as I should.

  5. Do you have a tongue scraper thingy? No.

  6. What brand of products do you use? I rotate shampoos, so it depends on what I have- this week its Panteen. I use whatever liquid bodywash that is in the shower at the time. Every year for Christmas and birthday my mom and sister get me some bath kit. So it seems I always have different shower gels on hand.
Toothpaste is aquafresh. Shavegel is skintimate.

1) Do you wash head to toe, or toe to head?

Head to toe.

2) Do you wash your hair before or after you wash your body?

I usually do this first thing. I leave the shampoo in my hair while I wash the other areas and then rinse out the shampoo.

3) Do you brush your teeth while you’re in there?

No. I don’t like to brush my teeth with warm water.

4) Speaking of brushing your teeth, do you floss?

Rarely.

5) Do you have a tongue scraper thingy?

I never knew such a thing existed. I never see tongue scrapers advertised.

6) What brand of products do you use?

Irish Spring soap, Alberto V05 shampoo, Crest toothpaste, Gillette shaving cream, various brands of razors, Sure deodorant.

  1. Wash hair - Pert Plus Extra Conditioning
  2. Condition Hair, leave it in - Suave coconut crap (because Extra just isn’t enough, according to the people who cut my hair)
  3. Brush teeth - Total (no tongue scraper, but I do brush my tongue if it won’t make me gag)
3a) Soak razor in cup of hot water
  4. Wash face - Cetaphil Daily Face Wash, I think it is
  5. Shave - Nivea Shaving Gel, Mach3Turbo
  6. Wash face again
  7. Clean body - Lever 2000 Body Wash (top down)
  8. Rinse down everything

I try to do things in this order every morning, but sometimes I forget - yesterday, I forgot the body wash altogether. And I don’t floss as often as I should, even with special flossing hook thingies. :o

      • Well forget that “gravity boots” setup. It does make washing your hair easier, but you just about d4mn-near drown when you try to do the rest of your body.
        ~

I go top down so that I don’t have to re-rinse everything. (I’m somewhat compulsive about making sure there is no latent soap on my body.)

Brush outside of the shower. I ususally don’t brush my tongue because it makes me gag and puke.

I don’t floss enough.

Ivory soap. I often use dandruff shampoo for preventive purposes.

Get under.
Wake up.
Shampoo (Pantene).
Soap underarms & naughty bits (Cussons Imperial Leather).
Rinse bits.
Rinse head.
Out.
Dry.
Clean teeth (Colgate w baking soda) Never flossed, dentist told me “don’t waste my time” after first appointment in decade. Tongue scraper? WTF?
Shave.
Rexona, Paco Rabane.

Do you wash head to toe, or toe to head?

I’m weird I guess, I generally work in a circular motion from the middle of my body to the extremes. MiniJoe parts first, then my hair with shampoo and conditioner. I thengo back to the middle of my stomach and get my torso, legs, then arms while the conditioner does it’s thing. Rinse and then face and rinse.

Do you wash your hair before or after you wash your body?

Before with the exception of the MiniJoe’s

Do you brush your teeth while you’re in there?

No, not normally but I have before. It is very rare.

Speaking of brushing your teeth, do you floss? How often?

In the shower? No. Before brushing, yes about once a week.

Do you have a tongue scraper thingy?

A what?!? Um… no, never heard of it.

And what brand of products do you use?

Hair - American Crew Shampoo & Conditioner
Body - Dial Vitamin Enriched Liquid Shower Soap (with a poof!)
Face - Anthony Algae facial cleanser daily, Anthony Facial Scrub twice a week, Anthony Deep Cleansing Clay once a week.
Toothpaste - It’s got to be Colgate, love that hot mint clean!

If you think that is bad, you should see the product list my wife uses!

MeanJoe

  1. Head to toe
  2. I usually wash my hair first then I put it up in a clip or ponytail after I put in my conditioner. It stays like that while I wash my body and shave my legs (I have really thick, curly hair - it takes a while for the conditioner to work).
  3. I used to brush my teeth in there, but now I do it after my last cup of coffee (coffee breath is not pleasant).
  4. I floss every night when I brush my teeth before bed.
  5. I don’t have a tongue scraper thingy, but I do brush my tongue.
  6. I use Aveda rosemary mint shampoo & conditioner, sometimes their deep conditioner on my hair. Dove or Neutrogena clear body wash on my body, St. Ive’s exfoliating apricot scrub every other day on my face & body (gotta keep it smooth). Shick (sp?) rainwater or something or other shaving lotion. I use a zillion other products on my face and body, such as Neutrogena sensitive skin cleanser, pore refining toner and sensitive skin moisturizer and a gazillion other lotions. I’m a girly-girl and a notorious product junkie. I’m thinking of starting my own support group.

Head to toe.

  1. Face
  2. Neck and ears
  3. Shampoo
  4. Conditioner, then leave that in during:
  5. Legs, feet, girly bits (this is when I’d shave, but right now I’m growing it out to wax)
  6. Rinse conditioner, put hair back up
  7. Back
  8. Left arm, middle, right arm
  9. Rinse all over just to be sure I got everything off

Once I get out of the shower, toner and moisturizer on my face.

  1. Do you wash head to toe, or toe to head? Head to Toe

  2. Do you wash your hair before or after you wash your body? Hair first. I use a dandriff shampoo and I lather it and let it “soak.”

  3. Do you brush your teeth while you’re in there? No and might I add what?

  4. Speaking of brushing your teeth, do you floss? Not every day.

  5. Do you have a tongue scraper thingy? no

  6. What brand of products do you use? Generic dandriff shampoo and dial body soap.

  1. Do you wash head to toe, or toe to head? washing my body is a random thing, I guess, one leg, and arm, my tummy, oh, my other leg!, hrm, that arm doesn’t have soap, so on…

  2. Do you wash your hair before or after you wash your body? I was my hair before my body but wash and shave, as I condition

  3. Do you brush your teeth while you’re in there? Nope.

  4. Speaking of brushing your teeth, do you floss? How often? Just started to do it daily… the dentist said I had to, and this time she meant it.

  5. Do you have a tongue scraper thingy? Can someone tell me where I could find a tounge scraper, and possibly a picture, I’m intrigued…

  6. What brand of products do you use? Garnier Fructis anti dandruff shampoo (don’t laugh at me, please), Tresemme conditioner for dry hair, Victoria’s Secret Love Spell body wash, (or any of the others I have in my shower… but I love Love Spell), Clean and Clear Face wash, Colgate toothpaste (changes with whatever’s on sale), and one of 20 billion hair care products I have sitting there, trying desprately to tame my poofy hair.

Toe to head. And apparently I’m the only person in the world who does this (really, I’ve talked to other people about it, and everyone agrees that I’m insane). I attribute my pattern of bathing to the fact that I took baths in the tub most of my childhood, and in the tub in made more sense to start with your feet. I guess I’ve never outgrown the habit.

However, I skip the pits and naughty bits until the end, after I’ve washed everything else.

After. Again, I’m the only person I know who does this.

No. I’m not that crazy.

My GF does that, however.

Yes. My ideal is daily flossing before I go to bed, but sometimes I’m lazy and skip a day here and there.

No.

I’m terribly fickle. I’ll use almost anything that’s on hand, or whatever’s on sale at the store. If I’m given a preference, I’ll usually choose Colgate for toothpaste, and Dial for soap… with any other product it varies from week to week or month to month.

I consistently (some would say anally) follow these steps:

  1. shampoo my hair
  2. leaving the shampoo in my hair, I then wash my armpits & genital area with deodorant soap
  3. rinse the shampoo out
  4. slop some conditioner into my hair - I alternate daily between a “deep” conditioner and a “light” conditioner
  5. while my hair is conditioning, I shave my armpits and legs, and then wash my face
  6. rinse the conditioner out
  7. wash my back and chest with an acne-preventing scrub by Neutrogena
  8. wash the rest of my body with a moisturizing body wash
  9. rinse compulsively for a few minutes to make sure I’m squeaky clean

Products - shampoo (right now Dove) for colour-treated hair, conditioner as noted above - currently Citre-Shine and Pantene, face wash - Clean & Clear daily scrub, body wash - also by Dove.

Usually takes about 10 minutes.

My S/O does 3 steps - shampoo, face wash, body wash - and it takes him about 15 minutes. Go figure …

S.

Step in shower and turn on water (making sure the hand wand is not spraying.)
Wet hair and rest of body.
Wash hair and face, neck - Head & Shoulders Dry Scalp (I have a little excema above my ears - this is a pH balanced shampoo with conditioner. Works great.)
Rinse hair and face.
Apply conditioner - Pantene Pro-V.
Soap up rest of body and use backbrush (ahhhhh, backbrush!) strong smelling fru-fru girly crap
Use hand wand to rinse off hair and body.
Exit Shower.
Brush teeth - Crest toothpaste and whirly toothbrush
Floss before putting on makeup

crap … forgot.

I wash head to toe.

I don’t usually brush my teeth in the shower … I prefer using cold water when I brush …

I use Crest or Aquafresh Whitening Toothpaste - whatever was on sale. I have a tongue scraper thing but it truly makes me gag. I don’t floss but I really should. The odd time I do, I use this “ribbon” floss that tastes like mint.

When I brush my teeth, one weird habit I have is: I also brush my lips to get rid of any dead or flaky skin … then I slather on some lip balm … that sets while I do my hair and my makeup … leaving my lips for last. I think it helps to keep them soft.

Tongue Scraper
While you should doubt their claim that “You’ll never have to worry about bad breath again”, it does help and it makes your mouth feel cleaner than just brushing your tongue. I usually scrape before I start brushing and then brush my tongue as part of the brushing routine.
My dentist gives all his patients one with their 6 month cleaning.

Step into warm to hot shower.
Pee into drain directly below peehole and wash away pee.**
Work Nexxus Therappe shampoo into wet hair.
Wash face with Noxema-like Walmart brand medicated cleansing cream.
Rinse face and hair.
Work Nexxus Humectress conditioner into hair.
Option 1: Ivory soap on washcloth washes underarms, under breasts, extra soap for privates.
Option 2: Exfoliating gloves with coconut shower gel (Suave maybe) scrub arms, the above, legs and feet.
Rinse body and hair.
Brush teeth after breakfast. No flossing, no mouthwash, no tongue scraper.

** I only admit this freely because there was a thread where I realized I am not alone. Not by a long shot.

Does anyone else have Lisa Lisa’s classic “Head to Toe” stuck in their head now?

Step 1 - Floss
Step 2 - brush my teeth with my Sonicare and Colgate Total with Freshstripe
Step 3 - turn on water, adjust temp and switch to shower
Step 4 - Get in the shower and start wetting my body
Step 5 - I start with my shoulders and work my way down
Step 6 - I wet my hair
Step 7 - I switched back to faucet
Step 8 - grab my Dove and soap my body lightly, starting at my toes and work my way up
Step 9 - using the Dove I soap up my poof(sp?)
Step 10 - use the poof scrubbing my body starting at my toes, working my way up
Step 11 - Shampoo my hair
Step 12 - switch to showerhead
Step 13 - rinse off
Step 14 - use my hands to squeegy the water of my body (I even gently squeeze my scrotum to remove excess water)
Step 15 - grab first towel to remove majority of wetness
Step 16 - Fold towel twice and flap it to create airwaves to dry my body
Step 17 - grab second towel to completely dry myself
Step 18 - go back to sink and face with exfoliator

The first time my bf so my bathroom routine, he freaked out…I admit that’s a bit weird/compulsive

Hey, thanks! And I also scrape first. Well, no. Mouthwash, floss, scrape, brush (tongue included), rinse, mouthwash. I think I might be obsessive when it comes to oral hygiene.

  1. Left arm… cross body… right arm
  2. Stomach and back
  3. Right leg… cross body… left leg
  4. ‘naughty bits’
  5. Hair: shampoo then condition
  6. Rinse front (lift breasts (left, right, both) and rinse fully)
  7. Rnse back and aforementioned naughty bits.
  8. Turn the cold water down and sit in the steamy hot water for a few minutes.
  9. Towel dry and do my hulk impersonation. (wrap towel around my back and upper arms. stretch arms out like the hulk and ‘burst’ my towel. makes me giggle)

I almost never wash my face. It’s dry enough with out putting soap on it.

I don’t brush in the shower as brushing with anything but super cold water makes me gag. I rarely floss.

I use Suave citrus ‘energizing’ soap and shampoo and the conditioner that comes in boxes of Feria hair color. One tube of that lasts me six months, easy. I have very short hair.
