How does one find a good eyebrow stylist?

I realize it’s not quite like a hairdresser, where you go in with a picture and say “give me this style”… or is it?

I’m tired of my ugly eyebrows. In their “natural” curve, they’re almost square. Plucking them myself has never resulted in a reasonably pretty shape, and I’m ready to go to a professional to be waxed, plucked, or threaded into prettiness. I just don’t know how to find someone who will do a good job.

What should I look for? Look out for? What’s the best way to guarantee I won’t leave the place and have to buy a Sharpie to draw my brows back on?

I would find a good hairdresser and see if they have someone who does eyebrows. I haven’t had mine done in a few yrs. I hate plucking them. Stoopidly I use a pen style electric razor to tame mine. I have thick eyebrows and I hate them! If you know a good waxing place I’d go there. Any friends of your get theirs done?? My nail tech did my eyebrows for me a while back but it costs $$$ to get them done. Fortunately she doesn’t charge much. Call around a bit and see what they charge.

Find a woman who’s brows you like and ask her where she gets them done. E-Z.

I get asked who does mine pretty regularly, so I’m assuming it must be a normal sort of thing to do. Sadly for the women who ask, I do my own.

One moves to Baltimore and goes to Usha.

I’ve heard Anastasia at Nordstrom’s is good. They have a list of locations on their website (anastasia.net.)

I’m just going by reviews I’ve read on the internet or in magazines. If I lived in the US I would probably try it. I have always wondered if my eyebrows have untapped potential.

I went to the Funky Toque on St Laurent and liked it pretty well. They pluck - I went to a waxing place once and my face wanted to die for a week afterwards.

Recommendations & luck.

If you see someone with great eyebrows, ask where they get theirs done…even with that, though - the stylist might not be able to do a good job with your eyebrows (happened to me).

And bringing a picture in might not do it if you don’t have the right kind of eyebrows to shape into that picture (also happened to me).

The only person who did a truly great job moved away, I know not where. Ever since then, it’s been hit and miss between ok-ish and “thank goodness I said ‘light arch.’”

I used to go to the Benefit make-up counter at Macy’s. They have a “Brow Bar” and “certified” technicians. They always did a great job. They asked what I wanted and always got it right. I think it costs around $15.00 plus tip. I don’t go anymore because I am a little short on funds, but I would go back to them in a heartbeat if I had the money.
