I don’t give this war high odds of occurring… but, it’s about one thousand times higher now, than it was 5 years ago. So, what, that gives us another 8 years before the US does the unthinkable.
This thread isn’t about Trump, and my worries aren’t only about Trump, rather the risk that MAGA, and the next MAGA supported president (who likely will be a full on Project 2025 psychopath, grounded with actual goals, and determination) who continues the thinking about invading Canada… Who knows, maybe it will be a drug-addled son of the current president… wouldn’t that be ironic?

I wish this was the case but what we are dealing with is Trump’s inner child who cannot understand why there is a line on the map. He doesn’t believe in the line and doesn’t think it should be there. And since he is a child with nuclear weapons, he kinda-sorta has the power to get rid of the line. Look at how easily he turned the Gulf of Mexico into the Gulf of America. There is no third-grade teacher available to sit Donnie Two Scoops down in the corner and explain to him how countries work. He wants the biggest country on earth and he will throw tantrums until he gets it.

At any rate you are moving the goal posts. Nazi Germany didn’t collapse because of anger over an unpopular war, they collapsed because they lost a war with the Allies. There’s not going to be any military invasion toppling the Republicans.
America spent 20 years trying to pacify a country with no military, transportation infrastructure, or industry, and whose economy is driven primarily by opium and pederasty, and it fell apart the second we withdrew.
How the hell do you think we’re gonna fare in a decades-long bush war in a country that’s much larger, with a lot more places to hide out, and which has a LOT more guns?
Guns are useless. And I expect that eventually we’ll get frustrated and just exterminate the entire population. Unlike Canada, Afghanistan wasn’t fighting fascists. Forget decades, I doubt it’ll take even one decade before fascist America decides they are tired of it and just nukes all the major population centers.

We’ve discussed this in other threads, and the answer is, “Even if they wanted to, they won’t be able to”.
No country in NATO has the sealift or airlift capacity to put a significant number of troops on Canadian soil, in the face of US opposition. Any such attempt would have to run the gauntlet of the US Navy and Airforce, who would destroy most if not all of the invading forces long before they reach North America. In the face of such certain devastation, no nation would ever even try it.
The best we could hope for is France or the UK threatening to nuke the US, and I think we all know how useful that would be.

Not much.
But that won’t stop the US invasion, it will just make the occupation a bigger problem.
And it won’t be NATO smuggling in those guns, it will be the US drug gangs that Canadian partisans make common cause with.
That’s the point. The US is good at invading places. Actually winning the occupation? Not so much.
Not that any of this is going to happen.
And our point is, even a failed, incompetent invasion and occupation is going to fuck us up almost completely. It will destroy our cities, kill a significant portion of our population, traumatize a generation, and utterly alter our nation’s culture. We’ll stop being the international touchstone for “nice”, and become a nation of terrorists and killers.
If there’s even a 1% chance of that happening, we need to take it seriously and push back on it.

I don’t think there’s even a 0.1% chance of it happening. As I keep pointing out and everyone seems to keep ignoring, not even Trump himself has suggested invading Canada. This whole thing is just paranoid fantasizing.
Nonsense; Canada has no nukes, therefore it can be bombarded to annihilation with no means of retaliation.
And yes; fascist America probably will eventually decide to destroy civilization, including itself. Fascism is a death cult, in the end; Hitler wanted Germany to immolate itself and Europe when it became apparently Germany would lose he just didn’t have the power. America does. And that’s ignoring the strong presence of the Christian End Times believers on the Right, who consider the end of the world desirable and are actively working towards it.
I expect the last act of American fascism when it becomes obvious the system will collapse and they’ll lose power, will to be to launch nuclear weapons at every major population system on the planet that they can spare a nuke for with the intent to kill as much of the world as they can. The fact that China, Russia and Europe will retaliate in kind will mean that they won’t have to target any American cities, so they’ll have more to spare for foreign ones.
