My real name (first, last) got over 595,000 hits. I wasn’t about to wade through them to find one that was actually me. I decided to narrow it down by adding my middle name. Only 149,000 that time.
I thought maybe I’d have better luck with my not-as-common maiden name. I only got 12,100 with that. Adding my middle name whittled it down to 1,980.
As “Swimmingriddles” all 8 are me.
As “Swimming Riddles” the first is my SD page, including an article I had never read written by THespos about the Great NYC Dopefest of January. http://www.clickz.com/print.jsp?article=3157
Freakishly enough, my real name pulled up the Stanford acapella page, with a chick who shares my name (which isn’t terribly common) and also shares my vocal part: alto. I’m gonna send her an email.
User name: 49,000. Okay. I had no idea Suo Na was actually a name. I was expecting to get non-English sites (many Vietnemese), but not actual people. I may have to change it, now, to preserve my uniqueness.
Real name: 6, five of which are me. The sixth is an obituary listing which happens to have both my first and last names. My last name is very rare, so this comes as a surprise to me.
So this is my new hobby. I type in the names of people I know. I did my entire family, and it was pretty boring until I did my dad’s name.
[sidenote] So my parents are from NYC, and moved to Vermont in the late seventies. My dad grew up on Long Island, and then got drafted into Vietnam, where he tripped a landmine (I think I got my grace from him) and got blown up, yet somehow survived the explosion with some neurological damage to his legs, lots of shrapnel and a new found love of life. He met my mom a new years later, and the rest is history.[/sidenote]
One of the hits on my dad’s name gets a page for a guy with the same name. MIA in Vietnam, he was a fighter pilot. He went down over Norther Vietnam, which I beilieve is where my dad got wounded. The wierd part? This guy was from Middlebury, Vt. My last name is not Smith or anything, and my dad chooses to move not an hour from the town where a guy with the same name who got killed in the same war that my dad almost died in grew up. Wierd. I think I’ll do some more research on this Other Dad.
My user name only returns Elvis Costello webpages (no kidding!) and some Buffy the Vampire Slayer fan cites.
Apparently, there’s an actress with my name, so the first two pages were entirely returns for her. But, on the third page, there’s a site about a Southern writing contest I won second place in my senior year of high school.
My username brought up “about 851,000” results. None on the first page (results 1-10) were anything related to me, but 3 of them were Krazy Kat pages.
Searching under ShadowKat, which I use a few other places, I got “about 128” results, one of which is mine–and on the first page, too! (It also got me a "Did you mean “Shadowcat” link which, predicably, included a lot of X-Men related results).
Real name got me “about 876” results. Didn’t see anything that was me, but I only went through 5 pages.
