I googled my user name, and to my surprise, it wasn’t as unique as I thought it was. Apparently, there are 237 websites that make reference to my user name, and only a couple of them have anything to do with sweet ol’s me. (Mind you, on the internet, only hitting 237 references isn’t very much.)
On the other hand, I think my username is a word in a language other than English.
How about everyone else? Does anyone have a cool website that they have no part of that Google brings up when you search for your username?
Well, a search on my user name comes up with a whole bunch of typo’s of leaPfrog. It does seem that there is some coach in Dallas who has leafrog@some other domain than mine.com as his email addy…
Of course, since mine is the name of something more important than me, they’re all about that. I’m surprised that hit #8 is actually me.
The majority of hits are about the star Achernar, half astronomy, half astrology, a few science fiction. But apparently, Achernar is also… some Japanese musician (?), a US navy attack cargo ship, a Russian record label, a mystery novel, one of Argentina’s biggest self-adhesive label making companies, a chess variant, and the title of an erotic greeting card.
Of course, Moe, turning up “about 2,010,000” results it would only take you approximately 105 days to check, spending 3 seconds on each listing, going at it 16 hours per day.
Mine came back with 11,500 hits, and surprisingly the first one was about me. After that, it’s some technical pages and a whole mess of Star Wars fan sites.
The second hit is for the Singapore restaurant that inspired my choice of this name. The eigth one refers to me on the board where post ten times as much as here.
An assistant professor at MIT,
The head coach of USC’s women’s water-polo team,
A member of the US national soccer team,
A 19th century Serbian statesman,
And also a sexy perfume.
“Hokkaido Brit” got nothing, but a search under my own name got a site that searches for people, and a message pleading for me to get in contact with a very creepy ex boyfriend who turned nasty and stalkerish when we split up nearly TWENTY YEARS AGO! Gaaah!
I have had another example of him turning up out of the blue on the internet and finding me, too. Lucky for me I now live on another continent and have changed almost all aspects of my name…
