How has Former President Trump pissed you off today?

Kennedy (liberal) escalated the war that the French (liberal) started. Nixon (conservative) ended it.

But that was just a slice of the pie, and it’s not like there’ve been no wars since. Many more people have died from the drug culture propagated by liberalism than ever died in Vietnam.

Until it was not operative for him.

For the one millionth time, you are still an ignoramus about why the war on drugs started and continues. It has little to do with liberalism and more with the conservatives that can not see the harm that they are causing.

BTW Nixon had other reasons why to ramp up on the war on drugs, Just like today, decriminalization just does not allow authorities to ruin specially the lives of minorities or the poor.

That’s a grotesque calumny. I have worked with several Americans here in New Zealand who have been perfectly nice people.

On the other hand, we did let in Peter Thiel without adequate fumigation, which is pretty much a net gain for undesirable immigrants.

Who’s talking about the war on drugs? I’m talking about the people and attitudes that gave rise to the call for it, and the death, misery and destruction that has occurred as a result.

One more thing, The first moves by America towards Vietnam were made by Eisenhower. And the French actually were following the very illiberal idea of colonialism. And one big reason why they decided to leave Indochina was, besides the defeats they were getting, that the liberal French government wanted to end their colonial rule.

Of course it was the conservatives that did not wanted that to take place.

And even on that you are an ignoramus. Many other nations that are not liberal continue to have those problems. And the reasonable solutions do not depend on your continuous mouth diarrhea about liberals being the cause. Even conservatives in places like Portugal see that the destruction has a lot to do with the harm that well meaning conservatives actually are causing with their heavy hand.

Really people? Are we going down this rabbit hole again?

Why are you all, yet AGAIN, letting this troll hijack a thread so he can make it all about the same gripes he has been going on and on and on and on about forever? Just stop responding to his bullshit and let’s get back to bashing the shithead-in-chief.

exactly.

Talking about all the people who die from drug overdoes IS talking about the War on Drugs. Because when you criminalize an activity, you necessarily drive said activity underground, where it can no longer be regulated.

A question if I may: When did you last hear of someone drinking a bad batch of whisky and dropping dead?

I’m hardly an *advocate of using cocaine - however, if it were decriminalized and dispensed from a pharmacy with impurities removed, usage and dosage instructions, side effects listed, and warnings up the wazoo: the death rate from it would plummet. Also, no more risk of people OD’ing on lines of coke that got cut with Drano from malicious, reckless, or greedy dealers.

Just the relatively mild-by-comparison death rate from the pharmaceutical industry not giving a shit if something slowly kills you over decades, as long as you live long enough to line their pockets.

The death, misery, and destruction of which you speak is largely a result of the War on Drugs, which has lead to 1 in 3 Americans having a criminal record (and 2.2 million locked up at any given time compared to 0.2 pre-drug war), and higher crime rates since any drug use automatically involves committing a crime and associating with criminals.

Not to mention we’ve pissed away $1 Trillion trying , and failing, to curb drug usage by throwing people in cages who haven’t committed any crime (i.e., caused harm to another or their property), instead of treating it like the health issue it is.

When’s the last time you heard of people on alcohol inexplicably going apeshit and stabbing everyone in the house to death or doing any of the thousands of other wacked out things people do on drugs? Illegal drugs are horrendous and they cause people to do horrendous things. There are reasons why in many countries drug crimes carry the stiffest penalties, including death. No one I knew when I was in school in 1963 knew anyone who was on drugs and in 1968 with the utterly idiotic counterculture revolution in full swing, neither nor anyone else knew anyone who wasn’t.

It would be amusing if it weren’t so maddening to hear liberals calling people who only want immigration laws enforced Nazis and becoming enraged when someone calls a shithole country a shithole country, when between Communism, drugs and being soft on crime, liberal ideology, liberal policies and liberal practices have caused death and misery over the last century on a scale that Adolph Hitler couldn’t have imagined in his wildest dreams.

Cripes!

What, exactly, about the 50s French colonial empire would you say was “liberal”?

Are youfucking serious?

You absolute pathetic joke of a human being.

I’ll ignore most of this since it appears to come from a parallel universe - I hope things get better for you there. But there’s a similar reality in both our worlds; people do horrible things when using **illegal drugs.

**Yes, exactly. The solution: Stop making drugs illegal. No one is going to risk taking Krokodil and their skin falling off, or bath salts and running around eating people’s faces off, when a safe, regulated drug causing a similar high is available in a store. My point is that the law is worsening the very problem it is trying to solve, by making it completely impossible for any standards to be enforced in the product, driving prices through the roof, empowering drug cartels who otherwise would have no customers, and ruining the lives of people who become hooked on certain drugs by the pushers. Not to mention that usage rates actually *drop in countries that legalize, but hasn’t been lowered one iota after decades of our War on Drugs.

Your “tough on crime” solution is WORSE than the problem it purports to solve in the specific, narrow circumstance of drug usage.

Well, it’s all down to your frame of reference, innit ? Compared to, say, feudal Russia, postwar France was a liberal utopia. And if you set the zero at Genghis Khan, DeGaulle was a remarkably mellow and flexible head of state !

You misunderstand the “problem” the laws against drugs are trying to solve.
It’s not about public health. It’s about “Chinamen” and their opium, and Mexicans and their marijuana, and negroes with their jazz and crack. Public menaces, one and all !
Now, whiskey, that’s one’s all right. Sure it’s addictive, it kills directly and indirectly, makes people violent and dangerous and leads to untold amount of date rapes, but at *least *it’s a white guy’s drug.

Well it’s harder to compete in the areas your opponent is strongest.

No, you cannot be a good person and vote Republican. The party is now devoting its energy into derailing and discrediting the Mueller investigation and the congressional “investigations” are a joke. If you do not condemn a person who wanted to stop immigration on the basis of religion, a person who confessed to being both a sexual predator and of obstructing justice, a person who describes other countries as shitholes and declared that all Haitians have AIDS, then YOU are an asshole. I can see how some people were fooled into voting for this moron, but if you support him today you are a worthless piece of shit.
