The release of the hostages was negotiated and all planned out well before Reagan took office. The hostage takers didn’t care who Carter’s successor was, they just hated Carter so much that they delayed the release so it wouldn’t look like any kind of victory for him. Reagan had nothing to do with it.
Not the photo. See mistymage’s comment.
Trump deserves credit for the Korean peace in the same way that Carter deserves credit for the Egypt-Israel peace or Bush deserves credit for the end of the Soviet Union; they were just the lucky guys who happened to be President when people in other countries decided to make major changes. Trump didn’t bring peace to Korea; Kim and Moon did.
The Camp David accords were literally signed at Camp David. I mean, there’s SOME right-place-right-time in that the parties were willing to talk, but Carter was intimately involved in the process.
Jeez, that can’t be a coincidence, I’m pretty sure the ratio of persons of color in the military is higher than the general population. Somebody made sure they were all white faces.
Hey, it’s all good, after all he put a brain surgeon in charge of Housing and Urban Devolvement. He is black after all so he must know something about the needs of those that require housing when they are in difficult situations.
I’m sure Ben Carson has studied this at length when not being concerned about all that brain surgeon stuff and getting portraits of him and Jesus painted.
I think this shit makes me more angry than actual Trump supporters. It’s when people who (say they) don’t support him do his propaganda for him. Not only did you have to choose the interpretation that makes Trump look best, but the one you picked isn’t even good, though you are presenting it as if it were.
What you just described Trump doing would be terrorism–using fear of violence to motivate for political ends. This would not be good even if it were true.
This bugs me more than having to prove to Trump supporters that we had Trump’s tweet to prove he said the thing they said he didn’t say–and it was shown in the video they were commenting on. Such blatant lying pisses me off something fierce.
But people who ostensibly hate him bending over backwards to find something to praise Trump for? That pisses me off more.
The United States is going to invade North Korea? Never. It will just be bombs and missiles.
What’s the point of having [del]nukes[/del] cannon fodder if they’re not going to be used?
I don’t think that Knowed Out was looking for something to praise Trump for. Quite the opposite.
KJU does this shit every few years. Anyone that studies him knows that. KJU is way, way smarter than Trump and may use this as just another opportunity to gain. Yes, the problem is, is that Trump will turn it into a political gain, and his base will eat it up. That’s the problem.
You know, if something good happens during this administration, it doesn’t actually mean that Trump did it. Not only is correlation not causation but there isn’t any actual correlation in the first place - 45’s been in the White House for over a year, during which period the NK situation has been doing some getting worse, and some getting better.
Is the NK situation right now seriously better than mid 2016?
Kim is playing The Donald like a fiddle. He is probably bucking to be a guest host on SNL.
Well it does seem like they accidentally blew up their nuclear research facilities. Ooops. Yeah now they want to play ball. At least for a little bit.
tic tic tic tic - Dateline 2019: World peace achieved by SNL and a has been porn star.
EEEEK! I’ve been blinded by the white!
Cannon fodder? Oh, you mean South Koreans?
North Korea is fully aware that nobody, not even South Korea or the United States, is going to invade North Korea. For one thing, if there were to be an invasion, North Korea would launch an artillery attack that would kill a good portion of the South Korean population. For that reason (among others), even if that jackass stinking up the White House now were to order such an attack, none of the people responsible for carrying out an attack would do so.
Iran returned the hostages the first day because Iran’s government got what it wanted: Reagan’s opponent to lose the election. Your comparison here falls apart when you realize that Kim Jong-un didn’t release anyone on Trump’s first day. You should also realize that North Korea still has hostages–supposedly just over 500. KJU releasing three Americans is a tried and true stunt that has worked in the past and will work again. What it’s also doing is pissing off South Koreans who want to know why none of their people has been returned.
While Trump is certainly an out of control psychotic and sociopath, the same cannot be said for the actual people running the United States military and the Combined Forces Command in South Korea. Trump is getting played, just like he did with his China visit. Come to think of it, that’s likely the real reason for KJU’s two visits to China: learning how to play Trump.
It’s worth noting that two out of the three hostages were also arrested/detained during Trump’s administration. That negates a large part of the credibility that he’ll try to claim. Except for his base.
The White House is apparently more concerned that a staff comment leaked than the incredibly insensitive and insulting comment (“He’s dying anyway,” said about Sen. John McCain) itself: https://www.cnn.com/2018/05/12/politics/mick-mulvaney-mccain-comment/index.html
Umm… What are you referring to? WWWW and how? Or at least a what would be helpful.
