How has Former President Trump pissed you off today?

ISTM the point is to promote the view that any person collecting any entitlement benefits is being a burden on “hard working taxpayers”, and that a noncitizen is especially “undeserving”; from there to the ultimate goal that the Safety Net needs to be either taken away or conditioned on some level of disenfranchisement for the Losers in Life.

Although a lot of people who buy ACA insurance get federal subsides, so there is a wiff of wellfare there that people who are sensitive to that sort of thing could point to.

I know what you’re saying is true.

But I think that many people believe Obamacare is indeed some kind of handout program that pays for healthcare. IOW they’re getting it mixed up with MediCAID. The crux of Obamacare is PRIVATE insurance. The whiff of entitlement associated with it is entirely wrong, subsidies notwithstanding. That’s like saying income tax deductions are “entitlements.” Oh yeah, let’s do away with those for middle class/poor people, too, while we’re at it.

“Entitlements are handouts” has been GOP domestic policy since roughly 1981.

I’m pretty sure the thought was that they were going to make her a leopard, and then she would be able to go out and eat other people’s faces.

Hell, 1781 wouldn’t be that far off the mark. They weren’t called the GOP then, but their commitment to egalitarian democracy was…lukewarm, shall we say? True, they wanted to get rid of a ruling class of inherited nobility, and replace it with one based on merit. Which is to say, money and property.

Cool, cool, conservative men, you might say.

My best laugh of the day.

Did anyone think of Red Dawn today?

Mount Vernon, George Washington’s historic home just down the Potomac from the capital, is making the best of things - it had more visitors last year than it’s had in over a decade. As its 2017 Annual Report states (p. 7), “To drive these strong attendance figures, we capitalized on growing interest in topics surrounding government and politics, fueled by a lively news cycle.”

Yeah, “lively.” That’s one word for it.

I seem to recall a similar case a while back. There will undoubtedly be more.

Humans are dumb animals. There were Jews who doubted that Hitler was truly an anti Semite, right up until the pogroms.

We’re definitely witnessing the organic chemistry of an authoritarian regime. People who believe anything to the contrary are in a very dangerous state of naivete and denial.

Trump thinks that military members who ask for, and just take without asking for it, a pay raise are unpatriotic and should give their pay raises back to help the economy.

I’m sure that if it weren’t for those dangnabbit bone spurs he would have bravely led by example on that one.

What a jackass!

I think he forgot  to ask the 1%ers who primarily benefited from the $1.6 trillion tax give-away to voluntarily give back the money they made and will continue to make long after the token middle-class break becomes an increase.

Funny oversight, that.

He didn’t forget to revoke the security clearance of an ex-CIA Director and (entirely coincidentally) a vocal and frequent critic, though: Trump revokes security clearance of former CIA director Brennan - White House

But surely under Trump’s brilliant stewardship the economy is charging along like a runaway locomotive and doesn’t the help of common soldiers.

He did, however, forget to mention John McCain at any point when signing the “John S McCain National Defence Authorisation Act for Fiscal Year 2019”.

He likes senators who aren’t terminally ill.
