Well, as one of the comments on the signatures clip points out, DJT always refers to Trudeau as “Justin”. And to Macron as “Emma Nu Ahl” and so forth. It’s one of his favorite, repeat, are-you-five-years-old putdowns, refering to other people by firstname while expecting them to call him “Mister”. I don’t think I’ll ever meet the guy, so help me God, but I might call him that. Exactly that. “Mister”, with nothing behind.
Remember how he SEETHED every time Hillary called him “Donald” during the debates? But he had no right to an honorific from government work, and since she knew him socially, she wasn’t going to elevate him above her. Can you imagine the ragestorm he unleashed on his people after that debate? That a woman dared disrespect him so openly on live national tv? Especially (in his plaque-ridden brain) after he treated her so well?
And that some awkwardness at the funeral today. I love her even more not even looking in his direction.
I feel like every single person in that room except him was thinking “It should be Donald in that casket.” Every. Single. One. Especially Melania, not excepting her.

I don’t know about you but I was Democratic precinct chair for precinct 3029 here in San Antonio, and I organized phone banks, blockwalking, and other GOTV stuff for the general slate of Democratic candidates while my wife worked on 2 Democratic judges campaigns doing the same stuff. I drove people to the polls, I made sure they had stickers, I asked about Dem friends who needed assistance. I did a lot more.
The Democrats finished (in our elections):
D-R
8-3 State Reps
6-0 Judges (including DA)
3-2 US Reps
10-5 District judges (All contested races went to D’s, the 5 R’s ran unopposed)
3-1 Justice of the Peace
In our Texas county, Dems swamped Republicans by 58%-40%, we even voted against Greg Abbott and Dan Patrick. More Dems voted in 2018 than D&R voted in total in 2014.

Ignoring the actual goals of the current French protests - which I understand are not necessarily leftist in nature - my guess is that our would-be Enjolras is looking at the hundreds of thousands of people taking to the streets and going toe-to-toe with the police and thinking, “Why can’t the American left do that?”

Candidates that I donated money to and supported went 6-for-6 on my ballot. In two cases Democrats unseated Republican incumbents. Some of my support involved expressing outrage on social media.
I didn’t do as much as you but I still feel I made a difference.
