How has the disgraced, CONVICTED FELON, former but once again President Trump pissed you off today? (Part 1)

There are a few I’ve heard that adore/admire him solely for being wealthy, and say so in a way that indicates that this quality should be the only consideration when choosing a president. I also carefully note that these people play the “money card” when/if the other reasons such as described above fail to resonate with who they are trying to explain to.

That’s pathetic in so many ways I had to number them.

  1. The adoration of wealth for its own sake is just sickeningly shallow.
  2. Wealth has nothing to do with being an effective president. Oprah is a billionaire; would they want her as president?
  3. Even if wealth is evidence of running a successful business, that has very little in common with running a government.
  4. Trump isn’t even that wealthy! He leads the lifestyle of a billionaire, but it’s all built on debt.

I realize the people who share this view with you are beyond hearing this level of reasoning, let alone understanding it. I just had to vent.

‘For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.’ - 1 Timothy 6:10

“Don’t quote me any of that weak-ass Jesus shit!” /MAGAt

Probably more like “woke-ass”, these days.

The first guy I met (2015 or so) who supported Trump went on and on about “he’s so rich, he won’t be corrupt. He has all the money he needs. He’ll self fund his campaign, and won’t owe anyone anything.”

I wonder what is rationale is now.

Ask them if they’re big fans of Kennedy and FDR, too.

Absolutely. It’s terrible enough on its own. Then there’s the logical issue: Lots of their “librul” boogymen are also quite wealthy. Pointing this out angers them in a way that I enjoy with much relish. :smiling_imp:

That, too. But I was thinking specifically of articles posted by other Dopers which related anecdotes from pastors whose parishioners now dismiss Jesus’ teachings as too weak for these times.

If that were true, wouldn’t God simply send another begotten son to clear things up?

OMG, you’re right! I wonder who it could be …

I’ve heard many times that she should run, and she reportedly has considered it.

There was so much buzz over it that she felt the need to come out and say she wasn’t going to.

She wouldn’t be my first choice, I actually think political experience is valuable, but at least she actually made her wealth and didn’t just inherit it.

Messiah 2.0?

I remember. I think there was even an SDMB thread about it. And I agree she would not be a good choice for president.

It is funny, though, how reviled she is on the right – despite being basically a textbook example of an American growing from humble beginnings to magnificent wealth based exclusively on talent, chutzpah and business savvy. She’s a far better example than the guy they worship. I wonder why that would be …

They both liked Dr. Oz, too!

In all honesty, it’s because she usually supports people on the left, even though she insists that she’s independent.

(I think that just means she’s sane.)

There was a near-future sf cop show a few years back, and in one of the episodes, a mentally-ill man was being asked questions to see how well-oriented he was to reality. His correct answer, when asked who was President, was “Oprah Winfrey.”

Trump has lied and cheated his way through life. He has managed to stay out of prison. Gold diggers marry him.

Trump supporters ADMIRE him. “Why can’t I have $600,000,000 fall in my lap and all the hookers I want?”

That is success to MAGA’s. They want to be just like him.

That’s true. But I think being black and female has a lot to do with it.

They damn near already are: ignorant, stupid, mean, dishonest, bigoted.
