How has the disgraced, CONVICTED FELON, former but once again President Trump pissed you off today? (Part 1)

He says shit and listens. If the cheers get louder he keeps going. If the cheers get softer he backs off and after a suitable short delay to allow his followers to forget what he just said (seven seconds is about right) says something totally different and contradictory.

If the cheers get louder he keeps going. If the cheers get softer…

And so on.

I think Trump has some natural tendencies but largely his utterances are shaped by the mob.

Once convicted, the involved judges have no reason to put up with his verbal assaults and treat him with kid gloves. Open his trap and they’ll revoke bail and straight to prison (loose Cannon excepted).

Right. The problem is he’ll have opened his trap and the deplorables will have listened. As always.

That doesn’t really explain the tweets, or I guess ‘truths’ or whatever they call them on that platform.

He attacked “liberal Jews” only a few weeks ago on Rosh Hashanah, accusing them of destroying America and Israel. And he has a history of antisemitic tweets dating back several years, including tweets accusing Jewish people of being ‘disloyal’ to him despite all he’s done for them and for Israel .

This isn’t exactly new stuff and isn’t driven by a supportive crowd egging him on but posts that he or his team should be vetting much, much, much more carefully (but of course he never does that). It has often gone far beyond ‘natural tendencies’ into outright antisemitism. Short of taking away his phone, it’s a matter of time before he (once again) tweets something well beyond the pale with regards to Israel or Netanyahu or Jewish people in general.

Something something, something the Jews killed Christ, something something, something the blood matzer is just too salty…’

Roger Stone claims Donald Trump called to ask if they could pray together:

Yeah, right. “Pastors for Trump” tells me all I need to know about them.

And claims that it was someone else who actually said it anyway…

Don’t forget trumpy is the only one who can fix Israel. He can fix the whole problem in 15 minutes with one eye both eyes shut and both tiny hands tied behind his … behind.

The only good thing I can say about trump is that he doesn’t believe in any god. He may have made this call (although I doubt it) but he wasn’t sincere. If he goes to church, it’s to been seen going to church. If he asks to pray, it’s so the story could be told. If he holds a bible, it’s for a photo opp. The “pastors” must know this, right? So, now we have to question their motivations.

Huh? I must be missing something here. Are you saying that if the media reported a large contingent of LEOs protecting the capitol, the left-wingers would flood into the city?

Cite, please?

‘And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by others.’ - The Bible, The Book of Matthew

Today, this article appeared in the New York Times (gift link):

I immediately remembered Trump sharing intelligence with Russian oligarchs in the Oval Office early in his presidency that compromised Israel.

Obviously this is highly speculative on my part, but it’s possible that between this and the intelligence Trump took with him to Mar-A-Lago and that he might have shared with some of his favorite buddies, this entire ghastly situation in Gaza was caused in part by his actions.

And that really pisses me off.

They definitely sound like the “Jesus was a liberal so we’ll praise his name but ignore his teachings” type of pastors,

This should be repeated to the megachurch crowds and all the loons who insist on flashing their christianity around like a flag.

The whole reference would be Matthew 6:5.

That had not occurred to me. That is certainly possible. And it’s maddening.

Once again it’s time to trot out the Conservative Bible Project, whose aim is to

… render God’s word into modern English without liberal denial and dilutions.

Since I value what’s left of my sanity, I haven’t delved into the CBP to any extent; but if the quoted passage is included at all, I imagine it says something rather different. In any case, the interpretation we’re familiar with was most likely added by some woke “scholars” sometime during the Middle ages.

The CBP is an offshoot of Conservapedia, which is the brain(?)child of Andrew Schlafly, who is in turn the son of arch-conservative activist Phyllis Schlafly. Which should tell you all you need to know about its reliability.

Here is their version of Matthew 6:5.

And when you pray, don’t be like the hypocrites. They love to pray when standing in the synagogues and in the street corners, so that they may be seen by men. I tell you truly: They will get what’s coming to them.

You’ll notice that their version of the verse does have a bit different approach. The end of the original is merely descriptive. The end of their version is retributive.

Again, the conservatives do not follow the Bible; they use it as a weapon.

This has prob already been addressed but forgive me, I’ve managed to miss it. Murderers and similar felons don’t roam around on bond while they await the results of an appeal. Why would trump?

Talk amongst yourselves, then draw straws to see who has the honor of tipping off the dummy.

Thank you, Dan

I almost want to pit Microsoft Edge which I use to check websites I’ve done as a neutral ‘no logins / no credentials’ kind of thing.

Every time I open it the “start/news” page there’s (at least one - today there are 3!) a fucking picture of Trump with his big-ass mouth open shouting something and also a picture of Putin with his expression of the cat who just ate the mouse (also three today because, like Nixon, he went to China).

I honestly thought it’d be “Obviously, don’t pray at a synagogue — that’s where hypocrites congregate! — but if you’re not standing right on a literal corner where streets meet, anywhere else is fair game.”
