I agree. In fact, I think that simple equation (Trump = Racism) explains about 98% of his candidacy, his presidency, his belief system, his goals. The other 2% is just accidental and coincidental.
I like that description! But I’m wondering what an accidental or coincidental racist is.
People will keep bringing other explanations for Trump’s strange rise, and will argue that Trump = Racism is too simplistic to cover everything. I find it’s easier to concede that, yeah, there may be other stuff involved, but it’s only a small and insignificant part of his popularity.
I’m flabbergasted also by people not being able to accept that as fact. After all, we had a four-year long civil war because so many people then were racists.
‘The South shall riiiiiiiiise again!’
(Was that Yosemite Sam as a Confederate colonel who said that?)
To which the only reply should be, “You want reasonable people to beat your dumb asses again?” :sigh: let me check my calendar.
I’d say mostly dementia, which has encouraged his smooth brain to start saying aloud the racist thoughts it has always contained.
I found that episode of Looney Tunes online, Southern Fried Rabbit, and he didn’t have that line.
I don’t think there were any other episodes with Sam as a Confederate.
It sure sounds like something he would have said, especially after Bugs tricks him into blowing himself up and he sputters in a daze.
Fair enough. Might’ve been a different cartoon, or I may have made it up in my head.
Trump Administration v2.0: LOOK WHAT YOU MADE ME DO!!!
I think this is his New York courtroom glare face, and this interpretation is just perfect:
From that article:
Before we get to that, let’s just record what he wrote and said. On Saturday at 10:25 a.m., he posted on Truth Social: “In honor of our great Veterans on Veteran’s Day, we pledge to you that we will root out the Communists, Marxists, Fascists, and Radical Left Thugs that live like vermin within the confines of our country, lie, steal, and cheat on Elections, and will do anything possible, whether legally or illegally, to destroy America, and the American dream.” Then, at a rally in New Hampshire later that day, he repeated those words essentially verbatim—promising to “root out … the radical left thugs that live like vermin within the confines of our country”—and then doubled down on it: “The real threat is not from the radical right, the real threat is from the radical left, and it’s growing every day, every single day. The threat from outside forces is far less sinister, dangerous, and grave than the threat from within. Our threat is from within.”
Indeed. FWIW, though, Hillary Clinton called him out on this, comparing him to Hitler.
Comparing, Hell. He’s channelling 'Dolf. Always has; always will.
It was Yosemite Mandella who said it.
Fortunately, a trump spokesperson addressed the concern over trump’s vitriolic spoken and written Veteran’s Day remarks by offering a reasoned, rational explanation of what trump really meant, that served to tone down the rhetoric, and lower the political temperature by several degrees. Thank God trump at least has handlers who are sane grownups.
Haha, just kidding! Here’s what the trump spokesperson actually said. If you think trump’s first term had no guardrails, you ain’t seen nothin’ yet:
“Those who try to make that ridiculous assertion are clearly snowflakes grasping for anything because they are suffering from Trump Derangement Syndrome and their entire existence will be crushed when President Trump returns to the White House," Steven Cheung, a Trump campaign spokesman, told the newspaper.
Right, so he meant just what he said. The only time speaks the truth is when he threatens others. The rest of the time it’s just the usual Trump gibberish.
I wasn’t suggesting that trump did not mean what he said. My point was that one might expect trump’s spokesperson to try to dial back the rhetoric just a little bit. “What Mr. trump meant was…” followed by an interpretation that, however bogus, sounds calmer and saner.
Instead, the spokesperson sounds every bit as batshit crazy as trump himself.
BIrds, er, bats of a feather… wait a minute, bats don’t have feathers. Dammit!
Today I saw a bumper sticker I had not seen before. I was wondering which trump thread to post to, and by luck it’s in context for the last few posts of this thread. So here it is.
Seen on the back of a generic white workin’ pickup truck and printed in the usual red & blue colors:
TRUMP 2024
THE REVENGE TOUR
Somehow the idea of voting for a president who’s promising to take revenge on anything ought to be so far beyond the pale nobody would think it. Instead folks, probably in the tens of millions, are salivating at the idea.
