It’s STILL surreal to me that they’ve hitched their wagon to this clown. I never would have guessed, in my whole lifetime of being aware of him, that he’d become almost a religious figure to people. That’s insane! Other than being, in my opinion, genuinely funny, it’s difficult for me to think of one good thing about him. Most of the humor is because of how stupid and blatantly shifty he is. He kind of started off mostly as a “meme candidate” that was racially ‘trolling’ Obama. That and he wasn’t sensitive, politically correct, or “woke” at a time where culture was changing.
Now it’s just a clear cult. Trump is the main character to these people, above themselves. There were a lot of people who aided him, (Republicans and Russia) and used the internet to spread all sorts of ‘altered reality’. Distrust in media and government, (some of it warranted), lead to people wanting an outsider, and many people craved change at the time.
That’s because you think of politicians as people who care about government policy, and seek office as a means of enacting an agenda. Once you get rid of that crazy idea, Trump makes perfect sense. For all his incompetence at actually accomplishing anything, Trump is a genius reading people and persuading them to do things for him.
I hope there are. Not millions, but maybe hundreds – enough to finally wake up what’s left of the non-crazy GOP to the real danger of pandering to this cult.
The problem with the whole MAGA “rash of suicides” thing is that I strongly suspect any such manifestation, if it happens at all, will be of the “go out in a blaze of glory” type with a lot of other casualties involved. Mass shootings a-go-go.
I continue to be disappointed in the people who aren’t put off by his braggadocio. I guess they initially thought that it’s not bragging if you can back it up. But now it’s proven he’s a fraud and a career criminal and they’re so invested in this second-generation slumlord that they can’t accept reality.
