I doubt most Federal or state prisoner accounts are allowed to hold even that much money.

Yes, the parallels have been there his entire political career. Giving everyone funny nicknames, chanting crowds at certain triggers words in his speeches. “Lock her up!” “Let’s go Brandon!” It explains a lot of why he became so popular among rural areas, he simplified politics to pro-wrestling entertainment and his fans ate it up.
Agreed. Call and response is a big part of the presentation in pro wrestling. I’ll give him this, he’s got that and the reading and playing to the crowd part down cold.
But pro wrestling is fake! Comparing Trump to a pro wrestler would be… never mind.
And just to address the thread title directly…
I hate it that a past time that I find otherwise harmless and entertaining has to be associated historically with the great pumpkinhead.
Pro Wrestlers have to have a lot of skills Trump lacks. Dedication, working with others, willingness to take a hit…
…ability to smell…
… ability to wear tight pants without showing their diaper lines…
Trump doesn’t rule out political violence if he loses. And there are people who still support him? Grrrr: https://www.cnn.com/2024/04/30/politics/trump-political-violence-2024-time-interview/index.html
After the last fiasco, I’d be shocked if many of the weekend warrior types lined back up to be stabbed in the back by their hero again.
Sure, they’d love to see him in office again but they don’t seem quite so eager to put their money or their freedom at risk for him again without evidence he’d ever reciprocate.
Other than lone wolf psychos, of whom there are probably many, Trump should look to the lack of crowds around his latest courthouse residency for an indication of … Wow, what a sentence! Did I use “whom” correctly there?
To be clear, I bet there won’t be a lot who will enact organized political violence if he loses, because they saw what happened last time.
What terrifies me is the number that will gladly embrace political violence if he wins and choses not to have his DOJ prosecute any attacks on his enemies.
THAT’S nightmare-fuel.
Certainly is, but I suspect a lot of governors, mayors, and county officials don’t want a lot of violent mob/vigilante action in their backyards. Even the GOP ones, unless they’re the ones controlling it, which they almost certainly wouldn’t be. And if a local or state DA decides to prosecute for violence or murder or sends law enforcement after them, I get the feeling Trump would be perfectly willing to let them hang.
He might tell his own goons to leave them alone but he’s not going to go out of his way for them, either.
I’m more concern about his very clear plans for the federal bureaucracy, which, despite what people say about them, actually do keep our creaky federal government running along despite the best worst efforts of some of our elected officials to deliberately create trainwrecks (in some cases literally).
I was disappointed today when Trump was ‘held in contempt of court.’ I understood he was going to get fined more first. I just hoped he would have to get on a bus with the other NYDC inmates where they’re allowed to use the restroom but not allowed to clean themselves afterwards. His phobias would bug the hell out of him.
You did.
It infuriates me that the mainstream media is giving him a national platform on which to rant and rave!
You’re grossly underestimating his herd’s capacity to blame the Democrats for his inability to take care of them. It’s not his fault he cannot pardon them yet. And, if he does sadly make it back into the Oval Office, he’ll dredge up some other excuse to balme the Dems for him still not taking care of them.
Yes, you did use whom correctly. You’re one of the very few who do.
I’ll… disagree in part. Trump will certainly enjoy a chance to come in and establish order, by commanding his forces (direct and indirect) to do so. And then he’ll talk about the good people on one side that were enraged by the evil of the others.
And the PTB in said areas will take their own sweet time (if ever) getting around to punishments, or decide they lack sufficient evidence, or that the people were just “defending themselves”.
As has been seen before.
Granted though, Trump isn’t going to expend any major effort past a sound bite or three on his violent supporters, or make much of an active effort to protect them. But his passive support for their ideology and a new benign neglect will be more than dangerous enough.
One of the very few whom do.
