Trump railed about immigrants in Charleroi, Pennsylvania, which he said had “experienced a 2,000 percent increase in the population of Haitian migrants under Kamala Harris.”

Charleroi Borough President Kristin R. Hopkins released a statement on behalf of the borough, expressing “deep concern” over Trump’s comments about the town.
“Trump chose to exploit our town for political purposes, using divisive rhetoric to unfairly target the Haitian immigrant community,” Hopkins wrote.
“Rather than acknowledging the real economic issues the town is facing, some have chosen to unfairly target the Haitian community, judging the entire group based on misinformation and fear of outsiders.”
That response is much too soft. They should be condemning him in the strongest language possible.
J.D. Vance said Monday that to even suggest that the Republican ticket’s anti-immigrant rhetoric was responsible for inciting the bomb threats was “disgusting.”

The cat rumor stemmed from a post made in early September to a private Facebook group called “Springfield Ohio Crime and Information”. The user who made the post claimed that she heard from a neighbor that the neighbor’s daughter’s friend had “lost her cat” and then saw it “hanging from a branch, like you’d do a deer for butchering”, insisting “they were carving it up to eat.”
Just how big was this cat? If I were butchering a cat, or bunny for that matter, I’d use a plank, not hang it from a tree limb.

Facts First** : *Trump’s claim is false. Harris is not talking about bringing back the draft and has not put forward any proposals to bring back the draft.
For some reason I feel as if I understand the thought process behind this latest Trump bullshit. It’s a cascade of incorrect but almost plausible assumptions:
- If we stop giving aid to Ukraine, Russia will quickly defeat them. (OK, that’s probably true.)
- But if we keep supporting Ukraine, the war could go on a long time. (Also true.)
- If the war goes on a long time, we’ll eventually send in U.S. troops. (Plausible but unlikely.)
- Harris wants to keep helping Ukraine, so she wants to send in U.S. troops. (Giant leap of logic and projection.)
- If she sends in U.S. troops, she’ll have to bring back the draft. (Complete nonsense.)
- Kamala wants to draft your kids! (Utter bullshit.)

It triggered the Libs, was a dogwhistle even the MAGAs understood and distracted everyone of “Concepts of a plan”.
Nobody needed to be distracted from “concepts of a plan”. People got the jokes out of the way and it was already dead within a day on social media.

Holy crap, indeed. According to Wikipedia, the 2020 census put the population of Charleroi, PA at 4,210. So, 2000% of 4,210 is (let’s see, move the decimal point over two places, then multiply…) a whopping 84,200!
Either someone doesn’t know how to math or someone doesn’t know how to tell the truth.

Your math is wrong. If previously there was one Haitian immigrant then a 2000% increase would be 20. If there were 50, a 2000% increase would be 1000. I suspect there were one or two in the area and a couple of families moved in. Voila! 2000% increase!
