I don’t think he’ll hold nearly as many rallies as he did in his first term. He’s eight years older and he doesn’t have to keep the sheep riled up anymore.
His rallies are less about riling up the sheep than they are about feeding his need for adoration. So he’ll still have them. But you are probably correct that the frequency will drop due to lack of energy on his part.

I’m lighting candles that Carter’s state funeral draws indisputably thousands more people to DC than the inauguration. I’m hoping heads of state from far and wide come to Carter’s funeral and then conspicuously head home for the rest of January.

The fact that there’s a left-leaning event/march planned in DC for the day before, may serve to rev up the numbers of Trump fans who come a day early. You know, for the head-breaking.

The more people out there—assuming the legacy media cover it, which might be a big assumption—the better.
With Trump’s ascension happening so soon after the 18th, I bet a lot of media owners will be working hard to avoid showing anything that would displease him.

I saw one March in Denver, and one in Pueblo - but was NOT surprised that there were none in Colorado Springs. I think I’ll take the money I’d spend on a commute and parking (even in the PHEV) and donate it instead.
Sadly, another reason is the concern that while going to such a march there’d be another crazed individual with a truck (or other large vehicle) and a desire for fame and/or to punish the THEM. Terrifying world we live in.

I wouldn’t march in Colorado Springs either and I’m pretty hard core. I’ve counter-picketed the Westboro BC several times but I’d keep my head down too in Colorado Springs.
So, if you can, carpool to Denver AND donate, if you can. I’ll be showing the colors in bright red Nebraska, right next door. I’ll be standing on the steps of the Capitol, under the carved inscription “The salvation of the state is watchfulness in the citizen’. If a vehicle could get up those tall, steep limestone steps before we can dive to safety I’d be surprised. There will be the capital and State Police there who will protect us because they believe in that slogan. They’ll protect us even if they disagree with us.
Hey, they come from Topeka, my home town. I’ve known how strange they are since the 1960’s before the picketing. I had two whole albums of pictures taken at counterpicketing events but I gave them to a student at Washburn University, and her study group which were doing a research project on them. One photo was of the Episcopal bishop of Kansas, now retired, William Smalley, who was counterpicketing with us. At one rally I was part of a local Lutheran pastor was a speaker, she’s now the ELCA bishop of Kansas. The congregation she was pastor of is the one I’m now a member of.
