Just watched some jaghole R on CNN trying to justify Trump by saying that Trump has elevated Greenland to national attention and that he’s been taking questions about Greenland and that wouldn’t have happened without Trump. So is a good thing Trump had elevated the discussion about Greenland. Blah blah blah.

He still has presidential hopes, and knows he needs the MAGA vote to get there. That seems obvious to most people here, but I it always makes me realize that politicians are gamblers at heart. MAGA might get much smaller or might hate this Greenland thing, and not vote for anyone who liked it. Or more likely, they will forget Cruz ever did this thing, and just vote bc he is an R.

No idea - see, we have this free healthcare stuff where I live so the hospitals just give you the things you need. At best, you pay just short of £10 per item on a prescription but if you’re over 60 or fall into certain categories, you don’t even pay the prescription charges. What the drug actually costs is of no concern to us, we don’t pay for that bit.

Considering the ultimate fallout from this, is there any reason to believe that the title of this thread won’t have to be changed? Has Trump ever had to face consequwnces in his life? Is there any reason to think that his convictions won’t be overturned on appeal? The star witness has essentially recanted.

As shit as the NHS is, it is an incredible system. When I (non resident, British citizen) entered the system in mid 2001, I immediately got free medical care, even free dentistry - though I never took on that.
Waiting time might be reasonably long, but the rusty semi-wreck of NHS staggers along successfully with a huge amount of of people who care. And effectively free at my low, low income at the time.
I have serious doubts that could even begin in the USA.
(my home country, South Africa, and my birth country Zimbabwe have free medical treatment. The guy who received the first heart transplant, by Dr. Christian Barnard at my local hospital, did not pay a thing.
They do charge if you have medical insurance, my first child’s birth (a ceaseron) got a little expensive, but my second child was fully covered.)
Politicians and journalists have something of a responsibility to be diplomatic and reasonable (not saying that’s what always happens, but it is a thing). That doesn’t work for Trump - they really out to just be telling him to shut up and sit down, because he’s just a gushing fountain of bullshit and he probably enjoys the reaction he gets.

Everyone is treating Trump like he’s normal even all the while he babbles and rants. This morning I was listening to Fresh Air and Terry Gross had a couple of experts on there to talk about “whether ICE’s extreme behavior in Minnesota is legal and what it says about the Trump administration.”
“What does it say about the Trump administration?” Are you fucking kidding me? It says that he is a dangerous, unhinged manic, that’s what it says! Open your eyes! What reality are you living in?
A room full of world leaders sat and listened to him rant and rave and go off topic and do everything but drool down the front of his shirt. (Maybe he did that, I didn’t watch it.) They should have stood up as one person and screamed, “Get off the stage, you doddering old imbecile!”
And now I understand that some of those world leaders are meeting in a “summit” to talk about him and what his rambling and blathering means to them. Holy cr@p!
