Naming things after yourself is worse than coming up with what you think is a cool nickname, and then trying to make everyone else call you that.

The whacky part is that not so long ago, this alone would have been a major, MAJOR scandal for any previous administration (pre 2016).
Now? Now it barely registers as a footnote.
Even if an airport is named for him does he really think anyone will want to buy clothing, handbags, luggage, jewelry, watches or tie clips with the name of the airport on them? In my experience, the shops in airports do sell stuff (sweatshirts, for example) with the city or state name but I don’t remember ever seeing stuff labeled with the airport name.
Does anyone you know have something branded for any airport anywhere?
BTW, The New York Times reported that Republicans in Florida are proposing legislation to name the airport in Palm Beach, Florida for him, although he still wants Dulles Airport named for him. I’ve heard stories of people ending up in the wrong place after confusing Dulles Airport with Dallas, so I can’t imagine that we could have two airports with the same name. So the good news is if the Palm Beach airport gets renamed for him, Dulles almost certainly will not.

I think you misunderstand. First he copyrights the name so he owns it. Then he orders the airport to be renamed to that exact name. Then he demands the airport (i.e. the government) pay him 1 beeelion dollars per year as a licensing fee for using that name he owns. Profit!
Mostly true. But sometimes you see it.
There’s also often sales of airport-branded stuff aimed at employees. I can think of several non-descript shops tucked into corners of major terminals where anyone, but mostly employees, can buy stuff with the airport name & logo on them.
Remembering how eager the MAGAts are to wear their gang colors in public I expect that if this goes through they’ll do a brisk business in merch. Unlike, say, the O’Hare branded merch. At least while Dear Leader is alive and out of prison.
What does him being alive or out of prison matter at this point? They will not abandon him no matter what. He is already stealing from them by suing the goverment, and they think he has a right to do so. Admittedly after he is no longer alive sales would go down eventually, but neither scenario (dead or out in prison) would have an effect now.

My thought was that only death or imprisonment would start the inevitable exponential decay of interest. But until that time, interest will be unflagging. To the degree the cult of personality really gets NK-like yuge, interest may be a lot higher in e.g. 2 years than it is right now.
