What they don’t realize is that Democrats/Liberals/Moderats are willing to fight. And are armed. Maybe not as heavily as the right is, but, we are armed.

He’s always calling people ‘Low IQ’. So, maybe, somwhere, he has a bit of self understanding. An ‘id’ I think it’s called. That’s probably asking for too much though.

Trump’s response was a torrent of barely connected ideas, including a complaint that NABJ brought him to Chicago under “false pretenses” because they didn’t work out details to get Vice President Kamala Harris to make a similar, in-person appearance at the convention.
“I have been the best president for the Black population since Abraham Lincoln,” Trump said, drawing scoffs from the crowd. “That is my answer.”
In a flash, it felt like all the predictions critics made of inviting Trump to address Black journalists came true. He was offering his usual torrent of accusations, assertions and insults — some outrageous, most inflated — creating word salad that moderators struggled to fact-check in the moment, raising fears that he owned the organization at its own conference.
You would have thought he was done after that. It was so bad. But he won the election anyway.
He was basically “Blacksplaining” to them, and it was pretty much what you’d expect would happen.

I had always admired Michael Moriarty’s ability as ADA Stone to address someone as “Sir,” but make it sound like an insult.

Excellent points. These may start out as people who lack normal levels of curiosity anyway (as tends to be the case at the lower ends of the IQ spectrum). But add in religious indoctrination (‘Democrats are demons’) etc. and you end up with people who have willingly blinkered themselves.
I didn’t realize Michael Moriarty was still alive. His L&O character, Ben Stone, is dead (as mentioned by Stone’s son on the SVU spinoff).
I guess DJT is now back from China. The little I’ve been able to glean from his visit indicates that nothing concrete was settled, just a bunch of maybes and promises. Can any Doper enlighten me on what, if anything, was actually accomplished?

I read that Trump will not commit to an arms package for Taiwan. Which isn’t the outright betrayal I expected.

Or what was actually accomplished? If, in actuality, nothing came of it, it’s probably the best we could have hoped for. The risk is they plant some idea in his head and acts on it, like he does for Putin or Netanyahu. Or he flies off the handle when anybody suggests the trip was a waste of time. Better he think it was a diplomatic success and nothing changes. There is no realistic worldline in which the country is actually better off for the trip.
I didn’t know that. Kind of mean, really–as if some producer decided ‘we are NEVER going to offer this guy a cameo role.’ (Maybe there’s something entirely different going on, but that’s what it brings to mind.)
At a guess, the Chinese managed to acquire access to Trump Regime members’ computers and cell phones. (The Regime is well-known to be lax about security.)
