I posted this in the Kennedy Center thread in P & E, but there are reports that Trump’s people are looking for other places to deface with his name, including Ford’s Theater.

Surely those not named Donald John Trump recognize the ridiculousness and narcissism inherent in slapping his name on existing institutions and buildings while he’s still in office? The thing he fails to recognize is that if people respect you, they will put your name on institutions and buildings on their own initiative.
Yeah, but they’ll wait until you’re dead to do that. Trump wants the recognition now.
Everything with his name on it will be burnt to ash moments after the black bars come off of the Epstein files.
That’s the thing. That people name things after someone is dead is a sign that those naming the building or institution truly respect the person being named, because they’re doing so without expecting to receive something in return. By contrast, people are suggesting slapping the Trump name on things because they expect him to reward them for doing so.
He’s also dumb enough to either think he’ll live forever or that everybody will just forget to take his name off things after he’s gone. I’ve seen balls of dough sharper than that guy
But, he’s a very high IQ president, though too modest to let you know that.
Ok, so he knows he’s not black. I guess kudos to him for still having enough self-awareness to know that. I dunno what that has to do with how smart he is
He desperately wants to be remembered. Remember how he was genuinely confused as to why Washington didn’t name Mount Vernon after himself. I think he is self-aware enough to know that no one will name anything after him when he’s dead.
Hmmm…using the words “self-aware” in a sentence referring to trump…

Yeah. He’s often said in effect “You gotta plaster your name everywhere or nobody will remember you.”
Oddly enough, we all remember Hitler. Even those of us who were born after he died. Like Hitler, I think knowledge of all trump’s works will long outlast anything with his name painted on it.
I’m a bit surprised that he’s that aware that he won’t be honored after he passes.
Depends on your definition of “honored”.
