After five straight days over 100° and 14 straight over 95°, it finally broke here. It is 79° right now with heavy rain expected tonight. The areas that were burned in the forest fires are all under a flash flood watch because all the underbrush is gone.
103 in Cincinnati today. Take that, state capital!
Reading this thread makes me happy to live in cool Central Thailand. April is our hottest month, but only three days this April exceeded 104. (Compared with a whopping nineteen 104+ days in April 2010.)
Not real cool. Our car’s air conditioning just failed and dealer can’t fix it until Tuesday. We won’t be making unnecessary trips till then…
Right now, about 8:00 p.m., it’s 85 F. In southeastern Massachusetts.
Tomorrow it’s supposed to be about 90. It’s very humid, though, and tomorrow my town is celebrating its bicentennial with a 2 1/2 hour parade. I’ll be marching in that dressed in my Rev. War militia outfit.
We were in the US in April but have read the temp (probably meaning the daily high) averaged 105 degrees F for the month here. And that it was the hottest April in 30 years. But that could just be Bangkok. Even though you’re not far away, it’s certainly hotter in the city.
At about 10:15 this morning, my car told me it was 95. It hit triple digits at some point, I’m sure. SE Michigan here.
Fucking muggy and hot. It’s been triple-digits for the past 10-14 days, unrelenting. A large section of our area (mid-michigan) has been without power for the majority of this time; thankfully I was not included in that group. Needless to say, lawns are ugly 'round here.
Found a report that April averaged 40.1 degrees Celsius in Bangkok, which converts to 104.18 degrees Fahrenheit. I hope they’re talking about the average daily high only. Still the hottest for Bangkok in 30 years; I would assume a similar showing for the rest of the country too.
I turn the heat on if it’s below 70.
Here’s the link I used for Nakhon Sawan stats. (I’m an hour’s drive away from that City, but it’s the closest report.)
I see two different Bangkoks at that site, the latter generally warmer, but even it has only a single 40+ Celsius day (104+ Fahrenheit) in April. I suppose it makes a big difference exactly where the temperature is measured.
That tutiempo.net site might be of general utility, as it has reports from all around the world.
(ETA: checking April 2010 I see Bangkok without a single 40+ day, though we had 19 here. Of course the tutiempo.net data could be hosed somehow.)
That’s simply not possible. We were in Vietnam for much of that month though.
