How I Feel Aboit The US These Days

Best typo of the month.

Yes, you are right, a 70 word post more closely shows how little you care.

Of course not, because homophobia fits in neatly with sexism. But imagine the OP’s example used a quiet guy instead of a quiet girl, and the big reveal is that he banged the entire cheerleading team. Gives a different message doesn’t it?

We care about what Trump’s election and continued support by a significant number of people implies about the state of modern America.

We care about your feelings about what Trump’s election and continued support by a significant number of people implies about the state of modern America…somewhat less.

Better than petmission?!!

You counted?

Actually, the only thing I’m interested in hearing from you is, why should anyone else be concerned about how you (the OP) “look at” the United States? I mean, the question was right there in my previous post. Not sure how you missed it.

I’m on a petmission from God. He says that the demo rats will win their election, but after that, the paw.

They don’t agree with us. They put up with Obama for eight years, let’s hope we only have to put up with Trump for four.

I don’t give a fuck if you are interested or not. Are you the “interest” police? Should we PM you everytime we open a thread to see if it interests you? Or maybe it would just be easier for you to not open threads that aren’t interesting to you.

I think the OP misspelled aboot.

Yes, El Kabong is in fact the motherfucking interest police. And if you could PM him to get permission before opening any more threads, that would be great.

This is how the US has always been. Bitterly culturally divided. Things may have appeared better on their face back when we had civility in politics, but the cultural rift in this country predates the US Civil War. As someone who grew up around KKK-country, there is nothing about Trump’s election that contradicts my previous understanding of the nation. The part that shocked me is how suddenly open people were willing to be about their baser natures to the point they were willing to back someone who is essentially Biff from Back to the Future. We have a culture that has long celebrated ruthlessness in the interest of success and self-aggrandization. Trump is just the natural consequence of our making heroes out of bullies.

You appear to be judging an entire country based on one voting bloc. We aren’t a monolithic entity. We aren’t even split in two as our two-party system suggests. We are hundreds of different cultural attitudes, ideas and experiences.

Also, I’m getting the feeling that populism is on the rise globally. I don’t know if it’s a backlash from the sound byte social media culture or what, but it’s hardly just an American phenomenon.

You misspelled “petmission.”

Take a deep breath. Use color and different fonts to highlight your posts when you really wish to make a point like this. The more color the better it’s understood.
Okay?

Interesting.

Actually, you’ll have to answer to the Coca-cola company.

surely. They’re not getting as much traction, but nativism/populism is simmering in Europe too. Else no one would pay any attention to Geert Wilders or Marine Le Pen, and Brexit would never have happened.

No, too many big words could you post a few examples.

I’d help you now, but I’m making tacos and frijoles revoltos.

Well, I’ve lived in the US for as long as I’ve been alive, and I was still shocked and dismayed when that orange sack of crap proved that a significant percentage of my fellow americans are also sacks of crap. I mean, I knew that large swaths of us are religious bigots, but that we were so evil as to discard the morality that religion claims to hew to in order to vote in the worst possible excuse for a person?

You may have been fully prepared for this, but I was caught rather by surprise - the only warning I had was the fact the stupid election had been running for sixty-five months prior to that and the turdbuckets had emerged from their holes gradually.
