I’m pretty sure he was the groom. Granted a groom usually dresses more or less identically to his groomsmen there’s no way Barney would be that nervous unless he was the groom himself.
Well, that just proves that it’s really Barney’s doppelganger. Do you really think that Barney would ask Ted for his opinion on a tie?
Good point. UNLESS, he’s just nervous or bummed out because he’s not the one marrying Robin. Okay, now I’m just trying to stir shit up.
Isn’t Barney some kind of mail-order minister? I seem to recall he actually married Marshall and Lily just before their official wedding. He could be dressed differently from Ted and Marshall in these recent wedding scenes because he’s actually the one who will conduct the marriage ceremony of the unknown couple.
Or maybe not, but it’s another possible twist.
Robin is not sadistic enough to ask Barney to officiate at her wedding. Also, the end of this season’s finale makes it clear that she was the one falling back in love, and not (yet) Barney.
Who would ask Barney to officiate at their wedding? :dubious: Lily & Marshal are already married; as is Barney’s gay brother. The only other people I think would be Ted or Barney’s mother. Ted is clearly not the groom and seeing as how Barney’s mother hates his friends I don’t see why they would be invited to her wedding.
I’ve always seen it as a shaggy dog story. For those unfamiliar with the term, here is an absurdly long wikipedia page about it.
Suits are Barney’s trademark, not tuxes. He probably wants Ted and Marshall to wear tuxes so they could at least approach his level of awesomeness.
