How I spent my Saturday – a boring MMP

I dare say that a dearth of ACBG would make you more curmudgeonly…

Only when we plan to be together and work keeps it from happenin’. Sure, I don’t want this to go on for days, but if one or the other of us has had a bad day, or is in a bad mood or is tired, it’s no big deal call and say “I need to be alone tonight.” Everybody needs dome downtime every once in a while IMO.

That should read “Everybody needs some alone time once in a while IMO.”

My friend’s mother has loudly proclaimed that she will never ever marry her boyfriend of ten years for this precise reason. “I want to be able to tell him to get the hell out of my house.”

Same tiles. I’ve got les of them – 3 x 8 plus a narrow row of trim – but mine can’t be hidden behind a closed door. It’s the whole wall at the end of a hallway. So anyone leaving the kitchen and heading for the downstairs bathroom gets a good look at themselves in celing-to-floor gold veined mirror. It’s been up there since the 70s, so whatever glue they used sure is working well. When it’s time to take it down, we’re thinking about using tape & a glass cutter to try to minimize the danger. And your house does sound a lot like mine, only we’re doing our work in the reverse order. We started with the plumbing, then did the roof, painted the outside, this week will upgrade the electricity, and then comes HVAC. We’ve done only the urgently needed stuff to the inside (like pulling down the silver foil wallpaper in bathroom. That was urgent.)

Lissla, please let us know if your husband manages to puke on his boss. Because he would be a hero to millions if he did (and especially to *my * husband). Really, though, I hope that talk goes well. It’s good your husband has the doctor’s note – maybe that will calm the boss down.

**Swampy ** - I think today is afraid of you because you kicked yesterday’s butt. It will behave now. And good call on the speaking up for your alone time.

**Taxi ** - I don’t remember the music from my wedding (almost 6 years ago). I’m sure there was music. Maybe. I remember getting married, though. And I remember our “first dance” song (Don Henley, For My Wedding). Don’t stress yourself out too much – I’m sure it’ll be perfect.

Here’s hoping that the crazy weather we’re all having fixes itsellf to our individual liking soon – although I don’t think it’ll snow in Toronto before September, sorry, Lissla

I most certainly understand, but I’d be remiss if I didn’t go for the gentle poke to the ribcage. :stuck_out_tongue:

That netstalker I have is another example. I was perfectly willing to talk to her on occasion, say once a week or less, and keep things on a PG-13 rating. She got annoying when she decided she was calling me every day and going for R rated topics, and mondo annoying when she started calling while I was still in the lockerroom at the Y. She has no clue of what ‘I need some down time’ really means.

Now, she’s going nuts because she doesn’t have my new address, and I’ve changed my cell phone number on her. I can hardly wait until my landline and current ISP get shut off; she’s gonna go ballistic. BTW, all of the new phone numbers are unlisted, and I’ve removed the ability to e-mail me from the board where she found me. Fortunately, I never did use my Doper ID there…

Oh, and it appears that TS Beryl won’t come close enough to us Friday to be considered a hit, but there’s still a 50% chance of thunderstorms for the day.

Well, apparently, the actual DVD release date was Nov’05, and some folks have been NetFlix’ing it for months. But it’s truly great - I downloaded the soundtrack last night and listened to it til well after midnight

Thanks for the link FCM, but I think we’re looking for something a tad smaller, since we’ll be doing the river thing. Besides, I’m not THAT handy, even on my best days.

I haven’t seen or heard it yet, but the cast is amazing, and I keep almost buying it. I’ll get around to it one of these days.

Shhh. Don’t tell me that I’m planning to quit. I might get angry. I’m only thinking about it when I’m not listening. I remember a time when I had decided I would quit when I got married, in preparation for having babies and the like–but that was back when I couldn’t fathom being single at 30.

I meant to say something about this last night, then forgot.

Several years ago, I was rearranging the file room at a former job with a coworker I might have developed a crush on if I hadn’t known he was married. Either way, cool guy, kinda cute, and I have a tendency to get flustered easily when talking to cute guys.

Anyhoo, we were emptying out file cabinets in a fire-brigade fashion–I was on a stepladder, I would pull the files out, turn and hand them to him, and he’d put them into boxes. Until I we both turned at the same time and some strange confluence of events led to him feeling me up instead of grabbing the files. He snatched his hand back like it burned, we both looked at each other for a second, and then I said “We will never speak of this again.” He nodded, and we resumed working.

Carefully, of course.

Oh, and one other thing, on a totally unrelated topic: Say you’re driving someone to work a day or two per week, and you’ve already stated your preference for not talking any more than necessary in the morning. Say on one particular morning, your passenger gets into the car and asks how you’re feeling, and you reply in all honesty that you’re working on a hell of a migraine. Should aforementioned passenger keep talking to you the whole ride to work?

I thought not.

Pictures?

**Drae ** - I thought you were going to tell NewGirl that you didn’t want to be her chauffer?

I think the best thing to do is to ignore the previous 3 pages(!) and just blather on. No way can I address all the shenanigans that went on here while I was at work,
Saving Lives and Making a Difference[sup]TM[/sup].
I am off shortly. I conducted a small science experiment last noc. A common house fly was buzzing around my bathroom whilst I was brushing my teeth. It landed right next to my cup, which has a slightly rounded bottom. I immediately gently placed said cup over housefly–entrapping it to its doom and demise.

8 hours trapped in a cup bottom is not enough time to kill a housefly–so I smooshed it this morning.
Off to college–hope to post tonoc.

No. And if they do, they should be let out at the point in the road with the most predatory carnivores.
**
swampy**, I’m abivalent on today. Last night I did not have a beer though, so maybe that would have helped. Tonight I WILL have a beer, perhaps several. It’s Wednesday, which means concert on the hill night. Tonight’s presentation is these guys. Looks interseting enough for a free show, outdoors on a nice night.

Ok, time to see what work brings me today. More unreasonable requests for my time by people I don’t wanna see anyway probably…

Yeeeeah … I’m a wuss. sigh

Fine, I get it. All that work I did posting pictures, and you can’t be bothered. Sure. Whatever.

drae, you will quit when you are ready. It’s like that. Speaking of…(drumroll., please)

I am officially a one-year-non-smoker!!!

bobbio, you don’t have a pet rabbit, right???

We got a huge-mongus thunder storm in the middle of the night last night. Right around midnight. And it lasted for at least an hour. Try sleeping through that!

swampy, you can only let the day be as bad as you want it to be. Which “bear” is gonna win this one?

Tupug

Oh come on! We all posted pics. At least look at the pics, you don’t have to address anything.
Drinking my coffee and working. zzzzzzzzz…

I’m not posting pictures of myself anywhere on the Interweb thingy. You should all take a moment, consider the implications, and then fall all over yourselves in expressing your thanks.

Whoa! 600 board feet!? Ask FCDad if he’d like to be my new best friend!!! Seriously, I would LOVE to be able to get cherry and walnut from an Amish sawmill. Razorette and I will be driving back to NC for Christmas, taking a pickup so I can haul some tools to help No. 1 Son with a remodel project. There’s room for some good lumber on the way back.
