How I spent my Saturday – a boring MMP

Don’t worry, I tell him that all the time. Usually accompanied by a poke with a sharp stick.

And I’m not even from around here originally. But the City is not the end-all be-all of everything…

Swampster, you get the OMG Award for the week. Jeeze Louise.

Funny side story about that Jeeze Louise. I say it all the time. My daughter, when she was very small, had a slew of baby dolls that I helped her name. One I called Jean Louise, after Scout in To Kill a Mockingbird. But because she heard “Jeeze Louise” out of my mouth all the time, what did she think we’d named that doll? Jeeze Louise. Hee hee. I think it’s a nice name for a suprised dolly.

Speaking of surprised, I’m not, Bumba. Regarding you story of the tamales. I had a similar incident at K-mart. They had sandals advertised in Sunday’s circular. At about 1 pm on Sunday I went out there to see if they were cheapie or good and there were none. I went to the “Customer Service” desk to find out why they were advertised when in fact there were none to be had. I was informed in an extremely snotty voice by the “customer service” representative that Kmart had nothing to do with the shoe department; it was leased to a separate company. OK, I can buy that, but not from a woman who won’t even stop what’s she doing to look at me while I’m talking and speak to me respectfully. “Well, sure but it was in YOUR circular at YOUR store,” says I. “It’s not MY store,” she snots back. Oh yeah, I was in contact with the manager. I hope he chewed her a new one.

Meeks! Give me a call - (I’ll email you my phone#) I could meet you for dinner any day but Tues or Thurs

er, um, I reread your other post - will you only be around for just the day Friday? or the whole weekend? Let me know

ok - I can’t email you - so you email me

What? It’s not that far off the mark, if you buy cartons. I still see signs for Marlboro at $25.99 a carton…

Maybe it’s my location?

It’s definitely your location. I haven’t seen $2.85 a pack in close to ten years, I’d guess.

Maybe it’s time to quit, then?

swampy, I know everyone is surprised by the ditzy juror but was this not a “jury of his peers” for a robber who was dumb enough to get caught? I rest my case. How is Joe Dawg BTW?

meeks, what taxi said, coming from another born upstater (Binghamton). Bop him one for me.

drae, I was floored when watching TV the other night to find out what you people up there are paying for a carton. Definitely

Yay for you, too, bumba

OK, how did work go from crazy reallyreallyreally busy gottafinishthisNOW to slooooooow in about 2 hous? What am I supposed to do now?

I’m beginning to think I shouldn’t do tasks quite so quickly when they say thisisreallyreallyimportantandneedstobedonenownowNOW!!! That apparently means we need it by tomorrow afternoon and if you finish it today we won’t know what to give you to do. Oh well.

What should we have for dinner? I’d planned stuffed peppers but I’m not really in the mood for them now. Hmmm.

I’m making Maryland style fried chicken tonight. I FINALLY found a frying pan large and deep enough to allow me to actually cook the chicken without crowding it and let me get it done one friggin’ batch.

The pan is a 7.5 quart pan that I found last night at Costco for $30.00. The chicken will be awesome.

Hey taxi, did you see that ridiculous wedding dress in that other thread. Good grief!

I have 3 choices, but I’m queasy and nothing sounds good. Steaks and baked NOTs, swiss (cubed) steak, or blackened flounder fillets.

No, I didn’t. Uh-oh sounds like a trainwreck. I’ll have to check it later… I don’t like to look at pix at work. I’m not sure why. My boss checked World Cup scores at work all the time while that was going on so I don’t know why I’m worried about him catching me surfing!

I enjoyed the circus last night - especially the clowns and the horses. However, this town sucks as an audience. They were dead! There was very little applause for anything. I have seen similar things happen at concerts here. No wonder we can’t get any entertainment in this lousy town - the people are cheap and make a lousy audience!

At least the people who come to hockey games make some noise!

OMG-I am here. It’s been interesting so far. I (ok, #1 son) hooked up my laptop and OF COURSE it didn’t work. Called the IT help desk. Guy couldn’t do it over the phone, so yes–I got a house call from IT and I’d been here 10 minutes. I am not wireless here–and the network I am on makes me refresh every hour or so (if not more often). I am terrified to turn it off, so it will be plugged in all week…

And it’s like 94 effing degrees down here and humid. I left that weather behind two days ago (it turned nice near Chicago)–woman I saw told me that they are expecting 110 heat index soon. I may melt.
So, I might not be able to post alot, not due to my commitment to class (you all know me better than that!), but due to cyber glitches.

I saw all the pics, except Dots (this ether thing won’t let it load?) and loved them.

I stopped smoking when a pack cost $1.00. Yes, I have Scots heritage…

Back from therapy - makin’ good progress - go me!!

We’re going out for bad Chinese food. It’s not bad food, just not a very good representation of Chinese. It’s a buffet and it’s cheap and I don’t have to do dishes, so there’s that.

Bid on boat was countered. We re-countered, splitting the difference, and we told the broker if they re-re-countered, we weren’t interested. We’ll find out tomorrow.

Glad to hear you’re still making progress with the therapy FCM.

Good luck with the boat counter-offer.

In the whiny department we have the ol’ “Is it time to go home yet?!”

I’m making one of our favorite dinners tonight, pork sirloin chops with steamed cabbage. I think I’ll put in a little yelow onion too.
Wifey’s at another meeting again tonight, so I get to pick what to cook.

If I have any cabbage left over tomorrow I’m thinking Thai yellow curry.

OK, people, gotta slow down with this posting stuff. It’s taking entirely too long to read the MMP!

Yay Puggy! And everyone else who has quit, of course. My gramma quit smoking overnight when she figured out what she could buy with the extra money she’d have if she stopped smoking.

Cool pix everyone. I agree…Jahdra and Drae are clearly related. Although, I always like the “how do we know they’re not the same person?” angle, I’m also fond of the “twins separated at birth” theory. Well, not exactly twins, but still…

And yes, Dots come back and give the URLs another try.

Sorry you had a crappy day yesterday, swampy. Sounds like today went better. Yay! Oh and the juror story was . Although Puggy does make a good point with her “jury of his/her peers” argument.

Hope the boat deal works out, FCM. Sounds like everyone would get a good deal if your kid takes you up on the living-at-home after graduation offer.

Liked the last two puns, Spats! Hee. Your work situation makes you sound like a ping-pong ball.

Geez, Ashes, the mesquite story sounds sad, too. And ha! now I can blame you for my lack of new refrigerator! :stuck_out_tongue: Here I propose a perfectly simple “buy two and send one through the CD drive” solution to my problem, and noooooooooo, you refuse to be a team player and…

Where’s Rue this week?

Gonna go out and take a look at the garden for a bit. Then back in to work on a presentation I need to give on Monday. Gotta send it around to co-presenters tomorrow so that we’re not all stepping on each others toes. ::Le Sigh::

Puggy Joe Dawg the psychotic chee-hoo-ah-hoo-ah is doing just fine. Well, for an old doggie, that is. He’ll be twelve on Hallowe’en. He’s been finicky about eating lately. He won’t eat any soft dog food with gravy in it, so his daddy has taken to buying Mighty Dog[sup]TM[/sup] dog food in any flavors that do not have gravy. Even then, he sometimes refuses to eat for a day or two. Last time I was his nanny, I kept feeding him Begging Strips[sup]TM[/sup] and Pupperonis [sup]TM[/sup] cause he’d eat 'em and I worry.

I told Joe Dawg’s daddy about telling y’all about Miss Clueless Albany 2006. I also told this at lunch today in the break room and got accused of tellin’ tales. Humph! I mean, some things you just can’t make up!

FCM I hope TPC[sup]TM[/sup] does the Underground Seattle tour. It’s so jake! She can also buy the book, “Sons Of The Profits”, which is a hoot! I bought it and read most of it on the flight home when I was out there. Matter of fact, I’m thinkin’ of rereading it cause it is such a fun read. Doc Maynard’s is also a fun place to hang out. That’s where the tour originates from. It’s also where I met Taters and a whole bunch of other Seattle area dopers, so it’s a special place. I met picu and got my f-aaaaaa-bu-lous painting of Seattle at the restaurant where we met up with a bunch of other dopers for dinner. The name escapes me right now. picu and her male harem were there though.

I cleaned the furniture around the pool and the pool after I got home. I am a tired bear. ACBG had a couple of patients to see this evening, so he’s working. Actually he should be about through by now, but he’s going home cause he’s tired poor thing! He will be out to hang out with my co-workers, whom I’ve decided can come in my house to pee if they need to, so I’m happy. Plus he’ll stay while they are gone.

OOH! I’m on vacation next week! YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY!!! Ima go to Chattanooga for a couple of days to see a friend but I’ll be back home Friday night cause next Saturday is my bday and I want to be home for that. Besides, my sister and bil are comin’ down to hang out for my birthday and that makes me happy, too. Ok, the bil’s main desire is to go to the local Harley-Davidson store (I know the owner, so that makes me special) but still, I’m glad they are coming. The owner of the Harley-Davidson store will be happy to see my bil cause he looooooves to spend money at H-D stores.
