Does he still refer to “Feminazis”?
Shutdown sure to end very soon — La Guardia closed due to FAA shortage: https://mobile.twitter.com/CNBCnow/status/1088812445139910657?s=19
So, which of us won? The “1 to 2 month” folks?
(Slight correction: Outgoing flights are still happening, at least for now).
I can’t help wondering what staffing looks like at the ARTCCs (I believe that’s the correct term for the facilities that manage traffic between airports).
“We’re sorry, but due to a shortage of controllers no flights are currently allowed in the Houston ARTCC region. Have a nice day.”
Trump doesn’t give a shit about the airports or about Republicans tut-tutting in his general direction, so until the Republicans find their balls and do something that means a flying fuck the shutdown will continue.
All true – but I do think this might be a turning point toward testicular self-discovery (on the part of just enough Republican lawmakers – not the fuckface in the White House).
If you look back to the beginning of this mess, I’ll bet there have been a minimum of half a dozen times since then where you have said something close to this.
Good point.
Tentative Deal Reached to End Shutdown:
I’m biased, so I’m curious: does anyone on this board see this as a political, ideological, or PR victory for Trump?
If true, this is an overwhelming WWE-style beatdown by Nancy Pelosi. Trump was beaten so bad he begged for mercy.
I mean, that’s how it looks to me. And it’s very difficult for me to imagine that in three weeks McConnell will agree to another government shutdown, because I think the chorus of OH HELL NO from across the land would just about flatten the state of Kentucky. I cannot see how he gets wall funding without major concessions to Democrats at this point.
But like I said, I’m biased, and maybe I’m missing something.
I’ll note that Trump is an irrational toddler and I have no confidence he won’t change his mind in the next few hours, even if he already committed to this. So we’ll see.
He could always change his mind–but he just gave a live speech in which he talked about how the government would reopen (and then ranted about how beautiful walls were or some such shit–I couldn’t listen to it for very long). If he goes back on the speech, I think he’ll not find McConnell’s very happy with him.
Trump tapped out, and then cried like a babe.
My hope (optimistic, I know) is that a portion of the MAGA capped dunces will be so disgusted by the crying toddler, that they start to peel off, and Trump’s approval rating takes a dive through the earth’s crust. Followed by Republican house members suddenly remembering that they never supported Trump in the first place.
Me:
I remembered you saying that. Good call.
Let me know when Trump actually signs the bill.
What are the chances he tries to write “Plus $5.7 billion for a big wall” onto the copy of the bill he’s signing.
If his signature is at all indicative of his handwriting, America will wonder why it’s granting citizenship to purple monkey dishwashers.
If we lived in a less polarized country then he might win points for putting the country before his own political interests and getting the government back to work. Presumably this is how they will try to spin it. As things stand, it will hurt him with his base, won’t move those people who are currently against him into supporting him, and there aren’t really very many people in the middle.
