Born in DuBois, PA but now living in Columbus via Pittsburgh.
Born and raised in Carlisle. Most of my family still in the area, so I might be interested in coming down, depending when you organize something.
I am indeed from Muncy (shut up, Duke ), but am currently about an hour north of there in Mansfield for college. (Woooohooo) So… yeah. And I’ve never been to a Dopefest, so I’m all for the idea.
Since this is basically a poll, I’ll move it to IMHO for you.
Cajun Man
for the SDMB
I’m from south central PA, so’s JustPlainDave…a couple miles up fom the MD border…
Wow! I had no idea there were so many 'dopers hiding in the woodwork here in PA.
I’m in York (not originally, but it’s where I landed) and I would love to join in a gathering with the other central PA persons. Hell, I may even be able to host it!*
*Once we move into our new house and life settles down a little. May, perhaps?
CJ , I had no idea you were so close. I should have guessed by the area code on your phone number (yes, I scoped it from cecil’s place, hope you don’t mind).
I’m from no where around here, but right now I attend Penn State in State College.
Moved up to Hershey a few years back from South Carolina. I probably won’t be able to attend, but it’s nice to see I’m not alone up here.
South Central PA - York.
chicksdigscars, my Mom lives in Williamsport, I’ll be up that way around Easter.
skids into thread
I’m a native central Pennsylvanier! Originally from Blair County, I’ve lived in Cambria County, Centre County, Huntingdon County, and now in Dauphin County. dunno if I’d be able to work up the nerve to attend a Dopefest, though
Where in Blair, MD? Like I said, I’m originally from Altoona.
Originally from Potter County (very central but very north) from a small, small town named Austin.
Now live in Fayette County (much like Potter County, just SouthWest rather then Cental)
Most of my family in PA is spread from North to South in the Central part of the state. (was in Williamsport yesterday actually… waves)
If Dubois is considered “central”, then I’m just as far east. My wife works in the Burgh but we’re at the edge of the mountains.
Gettysburg is a good meeting place- plenty of landmarks and things to do.
Juniata College. If someone had told me how much snow this part of the country gets, I might not’ve come. When the heck does it melt and what does it take for the town and the college to actually plow?
Melt? You don’t want it to melt. Melting just leaves behind even more potholes. Lord knows PA needs more potholes.
My SIL applied to Juniata, but got a free ride scholarship to IUP.
I hear ya about the plowing, though. I go to Shippensburg, and the only reason the ice melted off the sidewalks is because it melted off.

I’ll add my support to Gettysburg for a good meeting place…just because it’s close, but like Steelerphan said, it has plenty of landmarks.
Are lurkers allowed at this fest? Harrisburg PA here
Well, my idea of “city” is New York or London. I guess no matter where you live, you always want more. Williamsport may be bigger than Montgomery, but really all that amounts to is more people ‘cos you know there ain’t nothin’ happenin’ in Williamsport!
HI Khadiji and ciscochick!
As for the snow, it will be gone by June. I live in the “big city” around here, but even so, this city does NOT plow the streets. Oh, they say they do and you may even find a snowplow or two on the streets, but if you look closely, it is just moving the snow from one part of the street to another part.
My best friend is from College Station.
