How many cups of coffee do you drink in an average day?

I drink 1 cup a day. It is a 32 oz. cup though. You need to define cup. I can drink a pot pretty easily , if my wife stays out of it. She puts flavors into it, ruining the taste. I accuse her of putting candy in it. Coffee and water are 2 things you can drink that are calorie free.

I roast coffee at home and take enough (fresh ground) for one cup to work The rest of the workday I drink company provided Peet’s french roast. Mine’s better! :stuck_out_tongue:
I have another cup when I get home.
Total, about eight.
Peace,
mangeorge
BTW; I don’t think “none” should be included in this poll. It skews the results. People who don’t drink coffee suck.

Did you know that a shot of espresso has about the same amount of caffeine as a 4 oz. cup of drip coffee? And darker roasts have less caffeine per scoop than lighter roasts.
Did I spell “caffeine” correctly?

I never drank coffee until I went to college.

I never drank coffee on a daily basis until I became a teacher.

I never drank coffee twice a day until I became a mother.

Two cups, but then my mug is more like 12 oz.

I never drank coffee until I began working day shifts, and only then because the company offers it free. And only then with a 1/2 packet of no-sugar-added hot chocolate mix, 2 Splendas, some powdered creamer, and then top up with Joe. So I guess what I *really *have is just a flavored, sweetened caffeine delivery device. And it’s two cups because who wants to leave a 1/2 packet of cocoa mix behind?

(from the TV commercial: a Mocha Choco-Latte YaYa.)

I used to drink a lot, but somehow I just got tired of the aftertaste and converted to just water about 15 years ago. When I started my current job, I was told by several coworkers “the best part about this job is the free coffee!” When I said I didn’t partake, they’d say “well, there’s free tea and hot chocolate too!” I’s say thanks, but I just like water. Where do y’all keep the water cooler?" “Oh, they don’t have one here. You’ll have to drink tap.” :frowning: le sigh…

I drink four shots of espresso in the morning, but in the same travel mug. Once in the office, I drink another two cups of coffee.

Two every day.

6-12 cups per day.

Sounds like many of you folks have never had a properly made cup of coffee, or a perfectly pulled espresso shot or latte. Good coffee is amazingly flavorful and not bitter at all.

Anyway, I voted a cup every once in a while, which is, for me, approximately 3 to 4 cups per month.

I easily drink 6 14 ounce mugs a day. My wife has only ever had 4 cups of coffee in her life. That’s cool, though. More for me.

Zero.

I do drink 8 cups of tea.

So, the results are in, and they’re about what I expected vs the results of the company-wide survey that got over 19,000 responses.

Dopers Co-Workers
29% 26% Don't drink coffee
12% 16% Only occasionally
 9% 17% One cup a day
14% 22% Two cups a day
34% 19% Three or more cups a day

19,000 responses is certainly better, compared to 240 responses, but the one thing I expected to see is clear - Dopers are caffeine fiends.

A nearly equal number partake lightly at the one cup a day, if that often, level. More of my co-workers than fellow Dopers want a little zing in the day with two cups. However, I was surprised to see more Dopers than “regular” people not drinking coffee at all. Granted, these people are more likely sucking down tea or Coke, so the final count is probably 35% or more of Dopers buzzing around on caffeine.
