Don’t like coffee unless it’s become Kahlua, and even then, I can’t remember the last time I had some.
I get my caffeine the way God intended - in Diet Coke! And, for the record, I have 2 12-oz cans dumped in a big mug over ice. When that’s gone, usually by lunch time, I drink water.
I get a 20oz coffee on the way to work every day at Cumby’s - 99 cents, any size. That’s usually it. Usually I’ll run out on Saturday and Sunday mornings for the same. And I have a French press for snow days, like today.
I read through the answers and I didn’t see any “I’ve never tried it” answers, let alone a crowd. But maybe I missed them?
I voted that I have 0 cups per day. I’ve had maybe 3 sips of coffee in my life and it tastes awful to me. Smells awful too. And like **notfrommensa **I don’t do hot drinks so there’s even less incentive for me to get with it.
It’s not really hard to avoid, to be honest. It’s not as bad as alcohol where people don’t like to drink it alone. If a group wants coffee there’ll be coffee! And if someone doesn’t want it they don’t drink it.
What really sucks is when you don’t like coffee, wine or beer. They all taste disgustingly bitter to me. Those are basically America’s Three Liquid Groups and makes me a real joy to hang out with
One cup first thing, then I take two breaks at work with a cup at each. If I’m off and Zyada is at work, that first one is all. If she’s off, we usually go out for breakfast, and the server keeps refilling, so that’s two or three. Then we go for pizza once a week and I have a Coke.
I’ve been able to mostly eliminate soda consumption by switching to Pure Leaf unsweetened ice tea with lemon. It’s the only bottled tea I’ve ever found that I like and there are zero calories.
Two jumbo cups. I was given the choice of meds for ADHD by a doc who specializes in prescribing them… “Or, you might rather just get a second big cup of coffee in the afternoon.”
So I’ve been slamming coffee instead of other stimulants (though, come to think of it, there probably would’ve been a co-pay on the pills).
There was a time I’d have had to answer in “pots” of coffee, as in “I try to keep it down to two pots per day.”
Now though, I generally only have two large cups (3-4 by the OP definition) but some days I don’t trouble to make it. If I’m in a hurry and have a lot to accomplish I may just take a caffeine pill, or if I have just a little time I’ll make a big cup of tea with mate for a caffeine boost. Anything to get that morning jolt up to about 150mg; then I’ll be productive.
I try to really completely stay away from caffeine after Noon though. Otherwise it interferes with sleep.
I put down 0. I don’t care for hot drinks in general, though on rare occasions I’ll have tea or cocoa. That’s usually partly for the pleasure of wrapping my cold fingers around the hot cup.
I’m a Diet Pepsi drinker and this poll helps answer something I’ve been wondering lately. In terms of liquid, do I drink more or about the same as most coffee drinkers? A couple of decades ago I could polish off a two liter bottle each day, and maybe get a start on the next one to boot. I started tapering down about eight or ten years ago and now a 24 ounce bottle usually does it. Plus, a medium or large if I eat out. So, compared to the responses here, it looks as if I’m not doing too bad.
I drink a single large cup most days. Probably closer to 16 ounces than 12. I also have a Diet Coke with dinner and the occasional afternoon cup of coffee on weekend days (but not every weekend).
I used to drink closer to a 12-cup full pot a day. Not sure why I cut back, but it wasn’t really intentional. The coffee pot at my new job is not as good as the old job, for one thing, and I’ve been focusing on quality of coffee more than quantity, lately. And quality coffee doesn’t sit around on a burner for me to have several cups of.
I’ll drink several cups of coffee at a diner with breakfast, or several glasses of Diet Coke at a restaurant for dinner, though. Gotta live a little.
