Town of birth, for a few months.
Town I grew up in, then the one I went to college in so I guess at that time I had 2 official addresses.
First place we lived in when we got married.
Then here.
From 1976 to 1991: 1 address
From 1991 to 1994: 1 address
From 1994 to 1997: approx. 12 addresses, give or take a few
From 1997 to now: 3 addresses
I moved around a lot for a few short years as a teenager. In general, I think I was really “of no fixed address”, as I would stay as little as a few days, but no more than a few months in any one place. It wasn’t planned that way, I was just really irresponsible and went where the fun was happening.
As a kid my parents had a home in England, then we lived in a hostel in Sydney before they bought a house there. Then they bought the place they still live in in Canberra. I have racked up 14 places since leaving Canberra, in Australia and England for periods from 6 months to 15 years. I lived in one place twice (with friends, years apart) but only counted it once.
I was born in Lakewood, CA. My first memory of a home was in Westminster, CA. After that we moved to Yokosuka, Japan for about a year and a half. (I was three and four years old.) Then to San Diego, where I lived until I was 15. Up to Lancaster, CA for high school and early adultery… erm, adulthood. Down to L.A., then up to Birch Bay, WA.

We lived in a double-wide trailer[/li][li]1975-1994- The house directly behind the drugstore went up for sale and it was offered to my mom and dad, so we moved into it. My parents are still there today and they still own and operate the drugstore, though my dad is due to retire in a few years.[/li][li]1994-1997- I moved out on my own at the age of 24. I moved about 7 miles away to live in a trailer home that my sister and her husband vacated to move into a new home of their own.[/li][li]1997- present- I moved back to the town I grew up in and moved into a townhouse.[/li][/ul]
At age 34, I’ve only lived in six places; two since I have been on my own.
Are we counting dorm rooms? I had a different room and therefore address each time. So adding that in, I am at 16 in 32 years; 4 countries, 4 US cities, 3 states. I lived in the same place for the first 18 years, and my parents are still there.
If we count college dorms as all one place, then I am at 13.

The place I’m at now.
Total: 21
Lived with my birth mother for 2 months, 2 different foster homes in Ca, adopted and lived with parents in 7 different houses or apartments, got kicked out, lived in a foster home, became a live in nanny, my own apartment, with my boyfriend, married and moved into a mobile home, an apartment in CO, a house in CO, and finally we live in WA. That’s a total of 18 (I think. I suck at math!!)
4 different places before I was 5 years old. Then the same home for the next 14 years until I moved out to another city. Mind you my parents still live in that house and it’s still home to me. I think I’ll be devastated when they eventually sell.
Then, 10 different homes in the same city over the last 8 years. Love the city (actually only 100 000 people, so USA Dopers would probably call it a large town) but a number of times had to move because it was too expensive to live alone.
Last move was only about 4 weeks ago and the next one will probably be sometime around the end of the year.
Of course, I forgot one (how could I forget living with that woman?), so I’m up to 38. Since I’ve been here for 18 years, and I’m 51, that puts me at 37 places by age 33. Whoo! A third of a century averaging a little better than one per year. I guess I’m making up for it now.
I’m only counting places I lived in for more than a month in order to whittle out summer-camp-type experiences:

[li]Multi-family house in Chicago, first floor[/li][li]Second floor of same building[/li][li]Small house in Chicago suburbs[/li][li]Large country house in central Illinois[/li][li]Small house in town[/li][li]House in deed-restricted Florida community[/li][li]First dorm room (Pennsylvania)[/li][li]Summer apartment (Pennsylvania)[/li][li]Second dorm room (Pennsylvania)[/li][li]Third dorm room (England)[/li][li]Senior year party apartment (Pennsylvania)[/li][li]Three-bedroom house in Pennsylvania[/li][li]Basement rental in New Jersey[/li][li]Top floor of Baltimore rowhouse[/li][li]One-bedroom Baltimore apartment[/li][/ol]
All in 26 years; the longest I’ve lived anywhere was about five years (#4). Residences 1-6 were all with my family, and everything since then has been a rental of mine.
Oh, how I long for the days of putting down roots and being a homeowner!
