I never thought WoW had any sexual content at all, but this music video from “The Guild” which is obviously about the lives of a bunch of WoW players, seems to imply there is sexual content. Are they referencing other games (say, something from Second Life) or are they making stuff up?
They purposely never show gameplay or identify the actual game they play, but everything about the series indicates it’s WoW or something very much like it.
There isn’t really any sex in WOW. You’ll have players doing sex chat, perhaps, and I guess you could position two characters in ways that would suggest there were having sex, but it’d be kludged together. The game as no built-in mechanic for anything sexual, not even implied - you can’t have tow characters be formally married or have babies, for example.
There are certain emotes in the game that could be view as sexual. I.E. /kiss /hug /lick there are probably others. If thats gets people off then thats cartoon porn or wow cartoon porn… even worse.
Aside from that I only made it to 1:38 in that video.
Not because of the message what ever it would of been but because it got lost in a shitty music video.
The game itself is PG-rated at worst. There is no sex, nor is there nudity. The closest you can come visually is to take all equipment off your character, which leaves them wearing underwear (briefs for male characters, bra and briefs for female).
But since it is an online game being played by real people, the chat can be significantly more explicit than the pre-programmed game elements. I think that Blizzard officially frowns upon ‘cyber-sex’ in the in-game chat, but there’s nothing they can do to completely eliminate it. That being said, I play quite a lot (far more than I probably should) and I have never come across anything graphically sexually explicit. More prevalent are ethnic jokes, bathroom humor, and just general stupidity, most of which is likely produced by 14-16 year old boys; even that is not all that widespread. If I feel like it, I disable the specific chat channel that most of this sort of content is broadcast in, and I don’t have to look at it again.
The closest thing is that some of the dances the characters do with the /dance emote could be called provocative. (e.g. the female troll dance is inspired by Shakira’s dance moves). There’s no sex, though. Even the /kiss emote reads “You blow a kiss to <target>.”
There’s not whole lot of sex in the game as it is programmed. There are areas on some servers where people engage in ERP (erotic role play) and it’s been part of the game for a long time now. I never really knew about it until I made an Alliance toon and discovered Goldshire was a den of vice. When people engage in ERP isn’t basically like an IM sex chat…I guess. People go to secluded areas and get their ERP on. I walked until the upstairs inn of Goldshire and saw stuff that made my toon blush.
It should be noted that the server in question would have to be a private server, not affiliated with Blizzard. I wouldn’t really count it, because it’s the equivalent a fan-made mod for a single-player game that lets you make your character strip naked.
While no actual sex or stripping is shown, one of the new starter queslines has what’s clearly a male and female strip teasers: apparently your char is actually dating sharing the flammable bed with) the opposite-gender one.
I’m still trying to decide whether this is “going too far” in the sense of “ohmyg, my char actually got nookie before I made it! (and who says I actually cared about the b/himbo)” or not enough in the sense of “hey, what if I wanted to go same-gender, eh? Or a threesome, hmmm?” - oh wait, it’s supposed to stay PG13, right.
You guys haven’t seen the “lovely dresses” I guess… wearing those is more naked than being naked, specially given the way some of that underwear is drawn.
I know there is a lot of RP-sex(typing stuff in the chat box) going on in Age of Conan, a couple I know allmost spit up because one of them considerd it cheating…
