How often do you post & what's the impact?

I seem to come onto the Dope to post maybe every other day or once every three days. Sometimes gaps of several days go by without posting.

This makes it difficult to participate in Great Debates, where the threads go by much faster than I can participate in them (although that’s not such a bad thing - sometimes GD is just too tiring.)
How often do you post?

How does that timing influence your participation here?

I post often. I stay out of GD so I’m not sure it matters much. My impact appears to be nominal at best.

I post more often than I really should, and I question whether it makes any real impact at all. However, it does give me an outlet such that I don’t besiege my coworkers (quite so much) with random trivia about physics, Russian literature, Irish whiskey, and John Frankenheimer films.

Stranger

Several times a day. Hopefully injecting a bit of levity in what is otherwise a harsh and unforgiving world.

I spend most of the day here because I have nothing else to do. I doubt I have any impact at all. I think only about three people notice me regularly.

I post several times a day approx. 5 days a week. Sometimes what I post has no impact and sometimes what I post will cause 3 or 4 other threads about me and/or the subject matter I mentioned to pop up.

I post 5.77 times a day on average, according to my profile, which, in my scattershot observation of other people’s profiles, is apparently quite anomalously high. I couldn’t say what, if any, notable impact it has. But you’re not asking about the impact of my posts on the board; you’re asking about the impact of my posting frequency on my posting habits. Well, I couldn’t say what, if any, notable impact there is there, either.

I post often, but not a lot of my posts are in GD. When I do post there, I tend to try to cut through and clarify the issues. This tends to either result in high praise, or absolutely no response at all, or a response that clearly didn’t understand what I said. In general my posts probably have little impact, because I am rarely if ever mentioned in any threads that require remembering anything about other posters

I post several times a day, but have minimal impact. My posts are fluff - welcomes, good thoughts, the occasional joke (that usually only amuses me.)

My “whatcha reading” threads have an active participation, but anyone could start them if I were to leave.

It is all good, it is only a hobby for me after all.

No impact whatsoever.
Now, if I had tits and posted pics in the NSFW thread, the count of 33K+ would be greatly exceeded.

You’re kidding, right?

I’m semi-retured, so can post several times a day.

My main ‘function’ here is talking about my passion for chess, but I can also end a thread with my banality.

I average perhaps a post a day (haven’t checked in a while, so it might be higher). I only get a chance to peruse and post at leisure on weekends, so I tend to not get involved in discussions and debates; I do drive-by posts where I’m just adding a single anecdote, or participating in a poll. As such, I don’t really make an impact here. At most I’ve helped a couple of people remember some forgotten movie titles.

I did notice that I became a bit more open during amnesia weekend, engendering a little interesting dialogue. I’d have probably not posted as I did if they would have been archived. TMI and all that.

Not true. I recognize your name, and I’m horrible with names. I’ve been here since 1999 and I still get surprised more often when I should by seeing a name I think is someone new and they’ve got 12000 posts.

When I see your name, I think “that’s the Kimono chick.”

Damn, I hope I got that right. She IS the Kimono chick, right? If not, mods, please rewrite this post so I don’t look like a dumbass.

I post rarely – I try to save it for when I actually have something to add. When I do post, I’m usually ignored (AFAICT).

I post a bit (roughly twice as much as the OP, based on post count and date joined).

I don’t know if I make an ‘impact,’ though that’s usually not what I’m going for.

A lot of times I throw out questions in GD or the pit that almost always get ignored, and I like to imagine that that’s because my thinking is so right and logical that everyone who’s so set on arguing pre-worn paths have to ignore my posts or else it’d deflate their sails.

Yeah, that’s the ticket!

But, I’m here for fun mostly, not impact.

I try to make two or three posts a day, but my average is lower than that because I don’t always manage to log on. Anyway, they seem to have minimal impact. However, like others have said, I’m here for fun more than I am to make an impact.

Hey, I said that! I’ve started an SDMB meme! I’ve been referenced! My time here truly means something! :stuck_out_tongue:

I post rarely - probably 2 or 3 times a week. As far as I can tell I’ve had virtually no impact.

Average of 0.67 posts per day since 5/99. Back in the day I was more prolific, I tell you. Why, I’d post all day long, just stopping long enough to adjust the onion on my belt. Gimme five bee’s for a nickel, I’d say. Then the Kaiser came and stole our hamsters back in Dickety Four…

No… Maybe I just don’t say interesting things but most of my posts don’t get responses. I think the furry thread was the only non-frivolous thread to get any serious response.

Don’t worry. I’m the kimono chick.
